Okay, nobody got it. Since cidknee is the only poster I give the next question to him. The answer was:
ZG 3 Hermes
A formerly Greek destroyer, Vasilefs Georgios, which was built by Yarrow & Co., Glasgow, modified British H class (German 5" guns instead of British weapons among others). In 1939 the ship was commissioned. Later captured by the Germans the ship was used as officially only German destroyer in the Med (some Italian DDs were used later but officially classified as torpedo boats). Hermes was doing mostly escort duties. Among them Hermes detected the British submarine HMS Triton, which was sank by a German sub chaser. Later the British sub HMS Splendid tried to attack Hermes, but was sunk with depth charges herself. The survivors were rescued by the destroyer. In the final fight of Tunis Hermes and 2 Italian DDs were attacked by over 150 enemy planes. The 2 Italian DDs were sunk almost fastly but not Hermes. 10 attacking planes were downed by the FlaK. However splinter of bombs damaged severely the engines which broke soon after the attack ended. In Tunis there was no time for reapiring so the ship was scuttled. Her last captain, Hans Rechel, got the Knight´s cross for his actions. No ship Hermes escorted was sunk.
Cidknee, your question.
