8.0 Slows right down

Thal,

First off, thanks for the great mod. Playing is much better with your mod than without.

Unfortunately...I find that the time between turns, when the AI is moving, becomes increasingly long. By about 1500AD (on King level, Standard Map, 8 civ/18 CS) it takes over a minute to process those moves, and the screen is frozen. In the vanilla (latest version, I think 1.0.1.328) game, I rarely wait more than about 20 seconds between turns, and can usually move the map around to plot my next turn.

What might be causing this? Is there something I can do to speed things up when using the mod?

What's your autosave interval? Saving is the only thing I know of that causes the screen to freeze. Autosaves can easily take 30 seconds or more in the late game.

Other than autosaves I've never had a freeze, and turn times are typically under ~10 seconds even with a 2-year old computer. I can't think of what else might cause it... :think:

Well, live and learn! I had no idea that Autosaves significantly slowed turn times.
 
I do every 2nd turn. It's half as much time spent saving, while chances are the save will still happen on the turn we need it. On top of this I sometimes do manual saves when I've just finished something important.
