80 Bucks!!!

That is not true. XP for most games has way more content than Warlords. Warlords barely adds anything, it is an awful product no matter how you look at it. It is like charging the customer $30 for 72 hours worth of work.
Remember what Firaxis did with Play the World? They have a history of releasing multiple crap XPs, hoping gamers would be stupid enough to actually pay for those. Well, I gotta put my copy on eBay soon, it is so not worth the money.

Not to mention the new vassalage feature doesn't completely work and is buggy like hell. When they do add a new feature, they can't even add it right, or bother it test it before releasing.

THAT is not true, it did not take 72 hours of work to make warlords.

Ok, ok... it took 74 hrs.... :D

haha?

if you dont want warlords then dont buy it. but the fact is in a few months almost every modpack will be warlords and most players will have it and most of civs online games will be warlords (or the next xp). warlords adds balance and improves the ai, to me that alone is worth 30$.

From what Ive heard warlords is qulaity but just doesnt add enough new things to warrant the 30(USD) price tag and I heard it was something like 17 in britian which is (I think) like 34 bucks here or something close. I'll of course still buy it just becuase I am a pyramid of cash rite now, Although it would be nice if Firaxis would go valve style and release 20 USD standalone expansions.

I play countless hours of Civ and of the expansions. At the end of the year, it's not even close to one dollar a day for something that brings me a lot of fun. Great deal if you ask me. Paying for a new video card was less fun though... ;)

What's so bad about Warlords? Are you just trolling or were you around when PlayTheWorld was released. Even the relatively well reviewed Civ3 Conquests had little new to offer.

PlayTheWorld did offer something significant: The ability to play Civ via network properly!

This was indeed one of the most significant changes in Civ ever.... cost me a fair part of my life:crazyeye:

Gote

Danicela, I think it added quality (they fixed the AI, added Vassals, awsome mods), & quantity(more civs, units, buildings, wonders)

Yes, of course, BUT NOT ENOUGH for its price and for the fact it's an expansion.

they fixed the AI,

But do we get a FFA mode ?

Dida, Realy, 1%. How did you figure that out. Did you ever think that maybe Firaxis had a dead line that they had to release the game by. After all it is a company & they have to make money.

... and to make good and worth things.

I don't think that they "cannot handle the challenge of the marketplace", I just think it's not cheap to make a good game. I don't think that they charge too much for the game, I was just surprised that they required the vanilla.

It's not cheap to make a good game, ok, but is it expensive to add some rare new things ? the expansion price is an abuse.

It's just normal that an expansion require the stand alone... (not vanilla..)

maybe the pack should of been more like 20$ but i still think its worth it

Don't forget that :
-It's an expansion : You need the stand alone.
-It only adds new things to an existant game and it doesn't create another one.
-When you make an expansion, it have to contain many things, like 50%, not 25.

PlayTheWorld did offer something significant: The ability to play Civ via network properly!

Something that should be in the stand alone before...

Kerouac, great point. I pay less than a dollar a day in a month.
With the improved AI I play more than before. I love the Warlord, The Great Wall, Vassal States, & all the other stuff.

Yes, from this point of view it´s o.k.
But Civ is an extraordinary game :king: and I expect also extraordinary add-ons... somehow:confused:

t´s all about expectations! But the starting screen is really most ugly :vomit:

In a year $80 will be worthless thanks to your wonderful government's financial management skills. Better spend it now while it's still worth something!

Silly foreigner. They are devaluing the dollar on purpose to get you to come visit us and spend your money here instead of having us come visit you and give you our money.

And their plan is working quite well actually.

Moonsinger, Wait a Year! That plain crazy!

Not really!;) Since I'm still learning Civ4, I'm in no hurry to jump into Warlord.

Uh... I hate to inform you that £20 is more than $30

True, but its all relative. Without knowing the relative purchasing power of each currency you can't really criticize his statement.

You see, his salary structure is totally different than yours and the value of each one of his GBP is different than yours. It could be that 20 lbs to him is the same as $20 to you and I, even though it would cost us more than $35.

Oh my god, is firaxis trying to make some money here? That is completely outrageous! They should be making the game for free and giving it to us, they should be paying for the shipping too.
They ought to be ashamed of themselves, trying to earn a few dollars when they've made an expansion pack in 6 months. They should be working at least ten times as fast as that and making far far better games. I mean, the graphics are just $hit. 3D just isn't good enough. They should have invented fully immersing graphics where the world is projected all around the room and you can walk places instead of having to click.
And the AI is terrible! Why can't it come up with ingenius plans and do a CS slingshot? It should be able to think like a real person, or even better!

No, this expansion is a pile of crap and no one will ever buy it. I can garantee you that if anyone does they will immeadiatly regret it. Just look around this forum and you'll see how right I am.

Im not saying they shouldnt try to make money, but when you put money ahead of actually developing a worthwhile expansion thats when we run into issues, 30USD(20E) for an expansion that adds so little isnt worth it and quite frankly seems to convey that they are going to attempt the cash cow aprroach(A.K.A the EA approach) which isnt good for anybody but some C.E.Os pocket book.

i thuoght $1=£1.25 my bad
i get payed in sterlin pounds not us dollars

I really believe truly in my heart that this particular expansion pack is rather not scruptious. On the other hand I concur that this expansion pack is indubidubly real and in fact works. But it totally does not not unsuck. Also forevermore The expansion pack smells nice like as the box which is a plus two im my book. So finnaly in conclusion i believe that this post is getting kinda long like a wang so therefore i think that i will stop writing soon so this stuff will not beeeeee boaring.

Thank you for your time - chosen (the best) pickles

Yes but I think we can't call Warlords an "extraordinary add-on" ..
The Starting screen of the stand alone ? Why ? It's beautiful.

This is exaggerated, but it's half true.

Right.
