A Babylon 5 Mod for the Final Frontier Mod

Hello Everyone!,

I'm proud to present what could be very well the very first fan made Earth Alliance Aries Starfury ever (or at least I wasn't able to find another one :p).

So here is a render to conmemorate such an event!:

The Aries is the first Starfury ever made, so it is an EA early fighter. The model has 898 polys and uses the FF Fighter animation.

And since now we have 3 fighters for the EA, I made some research and came with the following:
Narn Ta'lon class fighter (advanced)
Centauri Razik class fighter (early)
Minbari Traga class fighter (early)

which I will be making in the following days.

Also, any comments on the Minbari Valenzha?

Nice unit. I might use it as it is bulky enough to concievably exist. (Most sci-fi fighters are way to small to conceivably exist as there is no place for any sort of power system.)

Is there a particular reason there is a skull and crossbones on the side?

As for the Minbari ship, I can't comment as the link says resource not found.

Thanks Ajidica, as for the skull / bones there is no particular reason other than I wanted to put something on it, but it was inspired in tail art of the F-14, and I wanted to put something "agressive" in the fighter (tho it might not make any sense to aliens :lol:, but surely will be good for their pilots morale).

Continuing with the fighters, here is a quick one, I modified the Tishat and came with the Traga, the Minbari earliest fighter.

Like the EA Starfury program, the Minbari fighters are also a family (or at least they look like one:p).

The Traga has 644 polys and uses the FF Fighter animation.

The drazi stormfalcon and firehawk cruisers look awesome too.

As for the Minbari ships, we'll see in the next ship equivalence table, but the Drazi ones are for shure on the to-do list.

I finished work on the third Narn fighter, this one is intended to be their advanced fighter, another design for Amras / kavinveldar.

The Ta'Lon fighter has 762 polys and uses the FF Fighter animation.

Next, the Centauri Razik.

Here is the Centauri Razik Fighter, it is an earler design than the Sentri. It has 354 polys and uses the FF animation.

Now we have three fighters for the major powers, but only the EA has two carriers, the Minbari, Narn and Centauri only have one.
I have found a Morshin variant (by Amras) that we could use as other Minbari carrier.
As for the Narn... here are my proposals (in the order of my preference), a Var Nic variant, a Th'Nor variant or a T'Loth variant.
And for the Centauri, I have found some text that indicates that a Darkner variant exists as a carrier.

What do you think?

  • The ships are ordered by race, by role/class and by time (sort of, the topmost ship of each category is the earliest available for such category, i.e. Razik(early) >> Sentri (mid) >> Rutharian(advanced) ).
  • Those in red are the ones I suggest to fill the role.
  • Those with no entry (blank space) are the ones for which I have no suggestions.

As you can see I have changed my mind on the Narn early carrier. Here are links for you to see such ships (those in red):

Hello all,

While waiting for your opinions on the latest ship table I decided to take a closer look into the Brakiri,... ships for this race could be a problem (not too many designs), but we'll see.

Anyway, since I was looking into the Brakiri, I decided to do one of their ships, the Tashkat Class Advanced Cruiser, it has 1178 polys and uses the FF Cruiser animation.:

I also took a look :D to the already available Brakiri stuff, I turned out that those models have a lot of polys (that is, well more than 1500), so, I'll probably be making modifications to those models to lower their poly count... when time allows it :mischief:.

So, anything on the latest ships suggetions?

I have completed the Brakiri Corumai Class Dreadnought.... if you remember Saschkin's ships we already had a Corumai Carrier... but looking in the internet I found both ships under the same name, so... what should we do on this?

Nice, more ships are always good. Perhaps this will give me motivation to merge my mod with ff+ v1.6.
 
That corumai Dreadnought looks really beautiful. Don't know why the Civilopedia picture looks so fuzzy...the ingame shot looks great though!
 
This is the first chance i've had to really look at anything since i last posted.

I'm well impressed with all of the ship models courtesy of Premier. I have no idea how to incorporate them all into the tech tree and spread them around so that there is time to make use of the ships before they are made obsolete by a subsequent tech research.

The ship equivalence table is great. Now we need to fill in the gaps and start adding in the other (minor) races ship units.

Once again Premier, great work.

I agree with all of your suggestions btw, it's a wonderful job you are doing here!
Unfortunately I don't have suggestions either for any of the missing spaces...

I've managed to merge our Mod with the Final Frontier Plus mod.:clap:

Now the bad news.
There are some problems with it that i have posted on the FF+ thread to see if i can get the problem resolved. :(

Once i have that problem resolved i shall start to put all of the lovely new ships into the game and also try and place them into the tech tree so that they will all get some service before being replaced.

Which reminds me, did we decide on whether or not the ships will be upgradeable or if they become obsolete when a newer version becomes available?:dunno:

A variant of the Th'Nor with an 'island' (if you are used to aircraft carriers you know what I mean) which leaves more room for fighters in the main hull.

I was thinking on this... perhaps if the two tech trees (the military one and the civilian one) are kind of merged we'll obtain a larger tech tree, that would allow for the ships to be further appart from each other, givind them a longer usefull life.

Yep, there are still issues that we need to define, but I remember the suggestion of allowing the ships to be 'upgraded' through special promotions that will provide the with 'new equipment' allowing the older ships to remain usefull and keep up with newer ships, I think we could try this out.
 
Needed more than one look to see the difference between the carrier and the destroyer o_O, but still nice :).
