I've been tinkering with this idea for a few days and I was wondering whether it would be a good idea whether to have something called a CFC Courtsey Code.

Here's some of the things it could have in it:

1) If possible try to minimize your visit at these peak times (peak times here)

2) Keep custom avatars to one

Haven't thought of much more, though.

How about the idea?

the reason why peak times are peak is because it is the only times most people get on but what do you mean keep custom avatars to one?

Well someone said that they uploaded 20 or so and they switched back-and-forth. That's all.

I'm fairly certain uploading a new avatar deletes your old one. If not, it would be a large over-sight in vBulletin programing.

That means into the uploads file, which has nothing to do with the forum performance. In fact, the uploads was created to keep attachments out of the forums, they were causing crashes.

You know.... we already have this 'courtesy code' thingie in a way. It's called the Forum Rules and Regulations or something similar. ;)

And it's being enforced by the mods. :goodjob:

However asking ppl not to log in at peak hrs isn't really going to work. Some people only log in during peak hrs (i.e. at work) for example. ;)

The "CEC Courtsey Code" I imagined was a concept that would help newbies and create a set of guidelines in which to follow, not so much on the performance of the forum and the servers, but the general good experince between the members, the boards, and the mods/admin.

Maybe it's not a good idea.

The ambition was to help newbies to become familiar with the board. As I have seen the first two are moot, here's a more complete list with something I hope that will succeed:

1) If you have an issue with another member then PM him/her rather than argue it in the boards

2) Instead of writing "delete me" in posts that you want deleted, PM the mod that is in control of the board or the admin or supermod

3) Don't write "thread closed" in the thread; instead, PM the mod that monitors the board and explain to them why you want the thread to be closed

4) Unless you really have something to say, avoid posting redundant posts

5) If a mod moved the thread because it was in the wrong board, take note of that and next time remember where to appropriately place a similar thread

6) The admin is the only one that can unban people; the mods cannot unban members

7) Don't post or PM for the heck of it; have a reason to post or PM in a board or to a member

8) Try to stay on-topic to the thread title and discussion

9) Please close the browser window if the page "The server is too busy at the moment" appears, as not to load it even more

10) Find a thread with your difficulty before opening a new one, as not to confuse members of the board

11) Avoid posting full-size screenshots as a courtsey to members who have dial-up

instead of 11):
avoid image-tags and forum-attachments, instead try to use the easy upload and a link to the picture
