I have some questions but first I will introduce myself. I have just bought a new computer -ACPI Uniprocesseror, 2.53 gig. Intel Celeron, Via SG3 Unichrome intergrated videocard, 960 Ram memory, C-Media AC97 (soundcard)

I have the black terrain bug, the face-bug and the stuttering sound in the intro movie and some of the wondermovies -bug.

First - when I press alt-tab and look at the processes I see that the priority for civ is "lower than normal". Ive changed it but when I start a new game it is back to it. Anyone know if it can be useful to change this to set it on " higher than normal" or just "normal?

Second - Ive got a intergrated video card that apperantly doesnt have the TnL-option. My video card is called SG3 Via - something. Is there anything I can do to try to make it work? Ive tried the 3D analyze-thing with no results. The omega driver - is it for my card or what?

And last - I have two hard drives with each 80 gigabytes but I have everything on one of them, around 20 gigs so its 60 gig free on one and 80 gig free on the second hard drive. I have 960 megs of RAM. And here is my question - What shall I set my virtual memory on? Should it be on the driver that I have Civ and everything else on or should I use the empty hard drive or should I set virtual memory on both of them? And is it ok to set it to 4 gigs on both parameters?

What version of Windows are you running? You probably do not have to worry about this as the OS will take care of application priority.

I searched around a bit on Google and found other people in a similar state. Looks like if your graphics card does not support TnL there is no driver that will help you. If this is a regular PC (and not a laptop) then you can usually disable the graphics card onboard and add another video card that does does support TnL. S3 is a value or low-cost chipset on graphics cards. I just bought a nice, inexpensive graphics card from newegg.com for $ 37.50.

Again, depends on the version of windows you are using. Usually leaving the default settings is good enough. With that much RAM Windows should not be using too much swap space anyway. A good rule of thumb is that the virtual memory settings should be equal to your RAM. But with that much ram you probably only need half of that. Windows XP will automatically mange your virtual memory for you and increase the size as needed. It is usually a good idea to have the swap file on the largest and fastest hard drive you have. Be default Windows puts it on your system drive (c:) and if you have the space there, just leave it.

Have I made it clear as mud now?

:)

Thanks for your reply.
Well, I guess I need to buy another graphic card then. But I think I will wait until the patch is out.
By the way, Ive got a desktop, Windows XP Professional sp2.
