Yes, it should be called A Song of Ice and Fire, but this title is the best way to attract attention, especially on a little read subforum.

Anyways, I made a map encompassing Westeros and Esseros. Some things to note are that
1) I did this all using only the editor and the map that comes with the books, so proportions might be slightly off.

2) I used 250 x 200 for the map size, but it turned out a little wide, so I left a fair amount of empty ocean to the east. Having never used a map cropper, I don't know how to remedy this, but as it makes little impact, I left it as is.

3) There is a playable map(never playtested) and a barebones scenario with just starting cities, roads, and a few other things. It is my hope that someone will use this to create a full fledged scenario. I would be willing to give advice and help with ideas if anyone makes it.

4) I had to guess where Vaes Dothrak is in the scenario version, as I couldn't find where it is located anywhere.

5) Oceans and Moutains are impassable, and I used LM mountains for the Wall.

6) I placed the Golden Company on a single tile island near Volantis, as I don't know where else they should start. However, they are important, so I included them.

7) Feel free to point out any errors you feel significant, and I'll try to fix them if I can.

8) The scenario depicts no particular point in time, but I tried to make thing's as interesting as possible. I won't give any spoilers about what's what, but if you've read the whole series, you'll probably understand what everything is.

9) Also possible ideas would be barbarian mountain tribes or Others, not sure if they should be civs or barbs.

10) Unfortunatley the map looks awful in the minimap, as I stuck to putting forests and hills only where it says to on the map in the book. It's a question of accuracy over asthetics.

Civs include:
The North
The Night Watch
Wildlings
The Crownlands
The Stormlands
The Westerlands
The Vale
The Riverlands
The Iron Islands
The Reach
Dorne
Each of the 9 Free Cities
Dothraki
Slaver's Bay
Daenerys Targaryen(Includes Astapor and Meereen)
The Golden Company

Remember, the goal is for someone to turn this into a first class scenario- I just made the map and city placements.

You can crop the map by pushing F12. It's pretty easy, just always use straight numbers. :)

Very nice! Being a fan myself, I can be a minor (lore/concepts) contributor should anyone take up the challenge. It is a great platform for a Mod.

Once Victory Point scenario might be to reunite the Seven Kingdoms under your Rule, through well-placed Victory Locations.

I'll DL the map in a bit and give it a whirl...

Thanks Yoda Power, I'll try that next time I update it.

I never actually loaded these up as games yet, so I take no responsibility for unbalanced gameplay. However, if you notice any glaring geographic errors, le me know- this is mainly for the sake of the map, or for people likee who could just stare at map in the editor and imagine the possibilities...

I see the Wall in your first screenie. Haven't checked it out yet, as this weekend I am doing 16 hour days :( How did you set that up? Obviously fortresses, cities, landmark mountains, but more detail?

I used LM mountains, and as mountains are impassable, the only way through is Castle Black. It was my intetion that eventually someone would make terrain representing the Ice Wall and the LM montain could be replaced with it. Castle Black is on the only tile that allows passage between the North and Beyond the Wall. If a powerful Gate-like unit was put there, I think it would work fairly well, as the Wildlings would have to conquer it to move on.

Cool map, Tiger :)
I have a question for Martin's fanboys/grrrls:

Once upon a time I found a map of what seems a whole (or at least: most of) world/planet of GoT universe:

Spoiler :
World_Map.jpg

(it comes from here: http://gamesofthrones.com/2011/05/2...nes-charts-maps-and-infographics-no-spoilers/)

However I found nothing about it on GoTWikia, so it is not an official, cannonical material. I was always wandering how legit and accurate is it? It interests me mostly because of this southern continent and a location of Asshai of the Shadow - it would be important when it comes to creating Civ scenario.

BTW.: I have a questions - are there any plans from Civ3 modders to create Got/SoIaF mod/large scenario??? I saw that there are some advanced works on this matter in Civ4 section, it would be pitty if good, old Civ3 will be lack of that.

I was thinking of creating such mod/scenario myself, however my lack of time to spare can made it difficult, goddamned I not even finished my Pacyfic scenario on which I was working for some time - so I was wandering If anybody have I strong will of creating such mod/scen for Civ3...

If nobody is - well - maybe I will look in that matter :)
I was thinking even about 2 different scenarios:

one that is set in "current" times, depicting civil war in Westeros and slave wars in Essos and
second, "ancient" one, where players can start in the times wright before the Doom of Valyria and Conquest of Westeros by the Targaryens - create in simillar way the Warhammer mod for Civ3 were developed (I mean with this whole stuff like: civilizations starts with only one or few cities and may freele expand on map and developes new technologies, - in opposite to the first one scenario version where most of the cities would be already pre-placed on map, players wouldn't be allowed to create settlers and most of the basic technologies already discovered)

Mountains in general are impassable. A LM mountain chain goes from coast to coast, with the only opening at Castle Black(i.e the gate). If someone made ice-wall graphics to replace the LM graphics, I think it would be perfect.

There are ouposts actually on the wall(representing sentries) and fortresses just behind it representing the abandoned forts that still have potential.

Okay, I'm up for some of this. See the thread for the Song of Ice and Fire MOD for Civ 3:

See here for a details and free map of Westeros and Essos:

Let's get something going. The SerMountainGoat map has the major West/East spots.

Sorry for not responding to this. I'm not sure why I posted that bit about mountains again...
I also am constrained in time, and my knowledge of lore/maps is completely restricted to the books I own and the maps on them. The map you posted looks excellent, however, I don't know enough about Summer Islands/ Sothoros politics to include them. I also don't know to much about the original conquests other that the North surrendered and Dorne was never actually beaten.

The scenarios I could envisage helping on are a pure Westeros war of the 5 kings, and maybe a reconquest scenario starring Aegon son of Rhaegar and Daenerys. that includes Esseros.
Although at the moment I have exams, I can still give advice if need be.

The map looks great- I am going to create a small scenario based on this since I prefer Civ3 to Civ4-5 (don't like the 3d engine).

My current plans are:

1) Add photos for each of the players from the TV show
2) Add details for each player (government, city/leader names, starting tech, aggression etc.)
3) Set the correct starting positions for each player to the relevant capital city
4) Remove any additional civilizations in the file (retaining only the maximum of 16)
5) Play-test!

I am roughly working on modifying 1 civilization per day so I should be done with the 16 within a few weeks. Once the above steps are done I will post it to the scenarios section. From there, it can be play-tested and suggestions provided.

In the longer run I will be considering truncating the tech tree and adding some unique units etc. But first, my modest goal is to get a working file using the standard rules, with the GOT scenario. I think it's better to work on a defined and modest goal; and once that is done, another goal can be set. One step at a time!

The work is progressing nicely, around 5 Civs are in place now.

Some things that will be needed once the above steps are done (please feel free to chip in with suggestions in the meantime, thanks):

- City names (5 per Civ will suffice for now; additional over those on the map)
- Military Hero names (3 each)
- Scientist names (3 each)

FYI the Civs will most likely be:

1) The Wildlings
2) The Night's Watch
3) The North
4) The Iron Islands
5) The Riverlands
6) The Westerlands
7) The Reach
8) Dorne
9) The Stormlands
10) The Crownlands
11) The Vale
12) The Free Cities
13) Slaver's Bay
14) The Golden Company
15) The Stormborn (Daenerys)
16) The Dothraki

I absorbed Volantis and Qohor into the Free Cities Civ because there are only 16 available slots.

Hayati you can have up to 31 civs on a map. See under the "scenario perefences".

Thanks pal! So now we got 25:

1) The Wildlings (Mance Rayder)
2) The Night's Watch (Jon Snow)
3) The North (Robb Stark)
4) The Iron Islands (Balon Greyjoy)
5) The Riverlands (Edmure Tully)
6) The Westerlands (Cersei Lannister)
7) The Reach (Margaery Tyrell)
8) Dorne (Oberyn Martell)
9) The Stormlands (Stannis Baratheon)
10) The Crownlands (Joffrey Baratheon)
11) The Vale (Lysa Assyn)
12) Pentos (Illyrio Mopatis)
13) Slaver's Bay (Razdal mo Eraz)
14) The Golden Company (Harry Strickland)
15) The Stormborn (Daenerys Targaryen)
16) The Dothraki (Khal Jhaqo)
17) Lys (Salladhor Saan)
18) Tyrosh (Daario Naharis)
19) Braavos (Tycho Nestoris)
20) Volantis (Talisa Maegyr)
21) Qohor (Vargo Hoat)
22) Myr (Thoros)
23) Lorath (Jaqen H'ghar)
24) Norvos (Mellario)
25) Qarth (Xaro Xhoan Daxos)

I've set the correct starting positions for all 25 Civs, removed the excess Civs, removed some government types (communism and democracy) and curtailed the tech tree at the close of the middle ages. Gunpowder has been renamed 'Weaponry'.

'Heavy Infantry' replaces 'Musketman', 'Heavy Cavalry' replaces 'Cavalry'. 'Cannon', 'Privateer' and 'Frigate' are removed for the time being.

I've also decided on the Unique Units for each of the 25 Civs:

Unique_Units_zpsbabd2019.jpg

All the above units are now added to the scenario. I need to add their Civlopedia links to avoid the game crashing if the user opens this up. For now I will leave the descriptive entries for later as placeholders.

Resources currently added:

- Horses
- Iron
- Gold
- Wheat
- Fish
- Cattle
- Dyes
- Furs
- Gems
- Silk
- Spices
- Wines

A small question as I work on this...all modded files are working fine except for the Civlopedia icons. For some reason, the game crashes with a message that it can't find some of them. I have placed them in the modded folder (where everything else is, and everything else is working fine).

An example message may be as follows:

Cannot find Art\Civilopedia\Icons\Units\GreenDragonLarge.pcx

I have placed the file, spelt exactly as per the .txt file and with the same capitalization, into the relevant folder under my mod.

Is there some kind of bug? Or am I missing something? I am not having any issue with any of the other types of file modded for this scenario- except that something similar cropped up for some unit sounds.

I have placed the file, spelt exactly as per the .txt file and with the same capitalization, into the relevant folder under my mod.

My best guess is that you haven't. Sometimes one can be blind when reading a text you've written yourself. Try to post the txt file and I'll take a look for you. :)
