A More Perfect Union

I believe I said that I live in Boston. If not, that is where I live. I would like to run for The House. I am part of the AmFist Party.

Welcome to Boston

But, Marvinmartian, I don't actually know if I am senator for Boston, as sessions ends on friday and I already declared I was running the election for the Senate.

Anyway, if we are going to compete in the election, let it be fair:)

If so, then I would like to vote for marvinmartian in the Senatoral Election.

Of course, just as americanking will do, I guess. In the end, you're all of the same party and this is all about politics, isn't it?

By the way, are you really living in Boston? I thought I was the only one just until today

I thought as of when he joined, but maybe not. I believe he said he was part of the new settler party.
You're talking about Marvinmartian, aren't you? I was talking to you, Princeof persia, how are you voting someone running for the Senate in a city that isn't yours?

Oh, sorry. I didnt know that part.

Well, I'm not actually sure of that, but I think it's more likely, as it's an intuitive, logical thought. If it's not that way, it's me apologizing

The session ends when yahzuk says it ends. Since he never actually posted a closing notice, it is open until he posts otherwise. So, you two will be the two candidates for the election when it happens unless someone else joins you guys in Boston.

You were JoanK, now there are 3 citizens of Boston (Yourself, americanking, and marvinmartian)... eh, I'll post what I know about Boston in a spoiler...
Spoiler Boston :
Citizens:
JoanK (Communist Party)
marvinmatian (America's Fist Party)
americanking (America's Fist Party)
Candidacies:
Senator: JoanK vs. marvinmartian
Representative of District I: americanking
@PoP: You cannot vote in the Boston elections since you do not live there. You cannot move there because you are an elected official in New York.

Although (yahzuk, correct me if I'm wrong) you can use your points to try and provide votes for your candidates in other cities.

Edit: Aaannnd... the election won't be for 2 sessions anyways since you have to go through primaries first (a system I'd like to change, but since we're at war, priorities have shifted). Those will take the next session. Then you'll have the actual elections in Session 7(?).

Primaries? for candidates unopposed in their parties?
You can't be serious.

Tragically yes. Like I said, I'd like to change that at some point with a bill or something like that.

Well, then, i'll have to move back to Washington rather than praying for the party to grant me some votes with their points

JoanK.

It is great to see someone as eager as you are in their desire to advance the Nation. I think the Communist Party needs you in Boston, please stay. Furthermore, according to rules, you are out of the election during the turn that you move cities.

As to the Primaries, we need to be synchronized. So some parties may have more than one candidate, and the primaries are a way for that issue to be settled. Some may not, but the Primaries are the way to keep all parties on the same time line.

Besides, party conventions are alwasy fun to have!

The bills as written would imply at the end of the queue, although you make a good point that more specificity in the future would certainly not be remiss.

Also, more importantly:

I declare my candidacy for the office of the President, under the banner of the America's Fist Party.

Not out of mutiny to Ceskari, nor out of a thirst for power, but because America deserves a choice. Although our president has been doing a fine job, the vigorous debate which surrounds a national election is vital to the well-being of a pluralistic society such as ours; even if the status quo is upheld by the results, America will be better for having solemnly considered its course. (Ooc: and seriously, what fun is a forum game if the guy in charge runs unopposed? :p)

I hereby declare to run a clean and decorous campaign, with further details to follow in the coming Congressional session. I hold no contempt for our president, and no will to sully his reputation -- I will trust he holds the same sentiment towards me.

May the best statesman win.

I welcome GreyWithanE to the race for election. As the first President of our fine nation, I must warn you however that the office burdens one with a great responsibility. That I hope I have been able to bear respectfully.

I thank you for the kind words regarding my term as President, and I hope we can run a decorous campaign. I feel my actions during my Presidency speak in my favor. Regarding America requiring a choice, I basically agree, but at these perilous times, there is always an element of danger changing horses in midstream. I just want the Citizens to be reminded of this.

Our immediate priority is to thwart the Japanese threat and to establish ourselves as the sole ruler of our part of the landmass that our intrepid explorers have now revealed for us. Our continent is destined for American domination, from Sea to Shining Sea. Long live America!!!

Okay, comrade President, for respect to you and the party, I'll stay (besides, I very soon discarded moving back, on the perspective of a long way back to a sieged city). And I had present that the election don't take place the same session I take moving to the city, but as I could declare candidacy I thought that the election that theoretically should take place the next session wouldn't in fact take place being me the only candidate.

I beg your pardon for such stupid thought.

Of course, but I can't understand that primaries must be carried out if both candidates appear to belong to a major party and have no opponents in that very same party.

From Page 10...
I would guess that primaries are run by the parties, not the government, so I think that it would be up to the party to decide.
As you can tell, you're not the only person who was confused at some point.

 I'm relieved, then, I was starting to think I was the only one who couldn't understand those rules

Got hit hard by freak October snowstorm in NE US. Not able to update this week. Current session extended to Friday.

I'm "beginning" to get the impression that this is viewed as a difficult game....ironically, I was intending this to be my "easy" game while I was writing the rules for my "complicated" game to be run next. :run:
