I've also done more testing and it looks like it's true; very few planes are being built by AI. We definetly have to look into this.
 
Hi All

First post ever. Long time fan of all the Civs. Back in the day I used to believe that desert tiles were uber fertile because they looked like corn and that militia were the best units so I built hundreds of them.

So, I believe that Rise of Mankind : A new dawn is the closest to a full spectrum immersion experience that I have ever found in a PC game, I feel that I am actually running a civilisation with a complex reactive economy.

Thus the news that there is a 'rise of mankind 2' is very exciting. I have downloaded the .exe (which I noted is considerably smaller than preivous ROM .exe's) and will begin testing today.

A couple of noob questions, can we expect more buildings, units, civics etc from this new version, or will it be more of a polished version of the previous game?

I will check the bug pages and let you know my findings. CIVFOREVERMORE.

Bugs 1st, then enhancements. The team has several ideas in the later department.

Hello

Just realised that this new version seems to have installed over the top of the original AND, that's by the by but I did not realise it was going to, hence I have lost the amendments i made to the tech files. I used to make the future tech much more expensive in order to stay in the modern age for longer.

So, the videos for some of the wonders are not loading, the two i have identified thus far are Stonehenge and Petra, there was just the blank blue rectangle where the vid should have been. This is not a universal problem as others like Great Wall and Sphinx were fine.

Not sure about 'Queendom', don't think this has ever actually existed in the real world.

AI seems much more aggressive in lower difficulty levels than previously. Not towards myself but each other, a lot more conflict occurring.

Also, many more storms in the early era, is this right?

My cities are going into Unhappiness or Unhealthy state. I can see the smoke rising but there are NO green or red faces on the map.
 
Never install one version of AND over another. Why? because the .dll can change from version to version creating file mismatches.

Cut and paste the Old version to a folder outside of the Civ IV/BtS path. Then install the new version.

You last 3 posts are prime examples of why you do not install a new version on top of an older one.

Please remove the damaged version from the BtS/Mods folder and do a Clean install.

Damn.

Just thought it would install as a separate mod. Well this has ruined everything. I have a long list of errors but now I do not know if they are 2.0 beta related or not.

Guess I will do the reinstall. One thing I will say, it all seems to be running very quickly.

Huge map with 18 civs, all graphics on high and yet the turn increments are still only a few seconds despite being in the industrial era, hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

I love the improvements to most of the civics, except there is absolutely no incentive to move beyond a free market economy, usually I would transition to regulated but the monetary improvements all seem to have been substituted for health improvements which is a bummer.

I love the improvements to democracy and that I can now build barracks and garrisons under liberal without my citizens whining about it.

More to follow when I get things working properly.

I am now running AND 2.0 BETA 3.

I got it from those links you posted a page or two back Jo.

I will say that straight away turns seem to be taking a long time, 4 -5 seconds right from the start of play, is this normal?

As for 4-5 seconds at game start, that depends upon size of map, # of AI put in game at setup, and what Options you've selected (hint Barb World and/or Barb Civ will add to turn times as there is now another AI involved in game play).

If you install Tortoise SVN on your computer then you can access the latest versions. It's what I use. AND2.0 is at revision 585 now. AND2.0 beta 3 was revision 570 iirc.

jtanner28 and 45*38'N are working on bugs right now. I just give advice and am generally just a big nuisance. ;)

i tried setting up the SVN but the installer you want me to use has a broken link. ive used SVN before. is there a way to add SVN to the mod after i install it?
 
Once you have the SVN set up Export thru the Tortoise SVN menu to a New Folder.

Remove the contents of the AND folder you have in the BtS\Mods folder and copy paste the New folder contents to it. Start new game.

I actually don't know what's the correct <iDefineIntVal> value to show ALL buildings (could it be 128?); but I strongly suggest you leave it as it is ("3" will show walls and city defenses and wonders) because showing all buildings is known to cause CTD; so if you want to play a game up to the modern era, you probably won't make it without frequent CTD if you increase that level of detail.

131 should be all (1 for wonders + 2 for defenses + 128 for other buildings)
 
Ok, I dont know whether The White Wizard (I forget his/her? username) can see this or not,
but Im going to post this anyway.
Im basically trying to get the full AND+patch thing set up, well I need to have ROM v2.92 installed, I cant seem to find ROM v2.92 anywhere. So I need a valid link to it, so I can do it, then get AND.
I dont know if this matters or not, but I have already installed the latest version of AND, and it works. I have tried to install the patch, and It has had no effect. But I have never even attempted to instal ROM v. anything, because I havent been able to find it.
Can I still get everything to work in the end? Or am I screwed because I didnt do it in the
ROM v.2.92==>AND v.(whatev is latest)==>AND patch?
Please respond, anyone, if you see this.
 
Having a bit of an issue extracting the files from the 5 part rar beta build links posted earlier in the thread from 4shared. It appears that one of the rar files (part 2 to be exact) is corrupt as multiple downloads of the same file result in the same error each time with 2 specific files as seen below.

Is this going to cause issues running the mod as I don't know how this game reacts to missing content (crash or just skip/default file usage)?

Regarding the specific files, I opend the .kf file in question with NifSkope and got this error:

The crusade.bik file is also a 0 size file so there was obviously no data extracted for it from the rar.

So... little help here? Seems like an interesting mod but I'm not running it if it's going to crash if/when I run across that movie or meet the new Izzy. Any chance on a repost of part 2 of the multi-part RARs or some par2 recovery files of it or even just the files that dropped the errors themselves? Thanks.

Question about difficulty:

I am now playing Beta Build 2.

Before this, I was playing the last official build.

I had graduated myself up to 'Emperor' level after mastering 'Monarch' difficulty.

However, in the Beta build, I cannot catch a break on Emperor level. The AI kicks my ass consistently and is always considerably more advanced technology wise than me.

So...question:

Is the AI now much tougher?
Is the AI cheating on this level?
If the AI is cheating (or receiving bonuses), which is fair to play on in the Beta build?
