A New Democracy Game 'Found!'

I think the discussion should come and as such be started by 1bc as a sign of good will. I think the idea of having a joind embassy of apolytonia and fanatika will be good though. but maybe 2 embassies would do a better job:
if we had a embassy board for all(!) embassies, then apo and we could open our own embassies there.
we are always open for discussion coming from 1bc to our nation, and 1bc will be free to open an embassy here. maybe it will be moved to a appropriate forum, but it will be allowed and indexed like the others.
 
No! No contact! Let us see if their country will collapse, then we will conquer the ruins!

No seriously, let's see if they can evolve into a non-party system like we have...
 
Hi there fellow civers,

Like MM, I'm a member of the 1BC board and I'm wondering if any one from Fanatika is interested to set up a DG between several sites when PTW is released. Maybe we can set up a huge multiplayer intersite civ game. Of course this needs some organization between different sites. Any one interested??

And yes, over here at 1BC we still have loads of work to do before we will have a playable DG, but don't worry:we'll get there.

bolan: as the ambassador in apolytonia, i am happy to welcome you foreign people in our nation.
we here in fanatika and our ancestors in phoenatica have a long history in establishing bilateral communications between the sites. we have had an embassy with apolytonia for a long time, and now try to expand our diplomatic relations to other sites.

I believe we do not use this only as a sign of good relations, but also to level grounds for a future ptw-demogame. We know some site-operators have major concers about this, and the original idea is to try to show them it could work in a peaceful way ;-)

And the other idea behind it was of course to exchange ideas on how to run demogames ;-)

MM - any thoughts on getting rid of your political parties. I know that people in our first demo game to enclude them hated them - I tried to reinstate them and all but the odd one or two told me what they had been like (they are a good theory but in practicise suck).
 
No plans yet, but if they seriously obstuct the game, we may amend the constitution and forbid them (I wonder if the people will let me though).

Different note: I'm changing the access requirements to the boards so "tourists" can read them too. This allows outsiders to take a look withtout registering for citizenship. Posting in any board other than the Open Forum will require citizenship though.
 
It has been done. Note that several official boards are still locked out due to security reasons (ie. to prevent outsiders from voting in Community polls, and to maintain limited access on certein boards) but you will be able to read in on most civilian boards, as well as the open forum, and the department boards as a tourist.

I tested and it works, thanks! I believe we will try to setup an embassy as your nation. Where would our embassy thread be best fit into the concept of your forum?
 
1big has an interesting point in the constitution:
3.3 If, while the President is carrying out the plans approved by the Assembly, he encounters any event or contingency not provided for in these plans, he must immediately save the game, provide an Executive Report, and discontinue play until the Assembly has accepted a plan on how to deal with the event or contingency.

I think this is good. It gives him work and he can get public recognition for the next election!


Nevertheless, i would like to ask the foreigners of the 1big nation why they impeached their "executive team"? i saw the outcome of the poll was yes, but i saw no reason stated ;-) Im just curious.
 
The reason was that our exteam failed to do its job. Our ex-President has been out of the loop for several weeks now, for personal reasons, and our ex-VP, in spite of repeated requests, has failed to play the game and post an exrep (executive report) to make it official. We have now impeached both of them, and are running new emergency campaigns.

To get the game started, our MoD has launched a very creative initiative: To declare war on the little barbarian village nearby. This means the MoD gets direct, hands-on control of troop movement: The MoI the surrenders control of the settler and worker to him, so our MoD can play the first few turns. The Supreme Court has already stated it will sanction a few specific breaches of the constitution in this case, see our Assembly board for more.


The 3.3 is actually one of my favorites too :) You will notice that our DG doesn't use turnchats, this decisision was based on some major problems in the Poly DG. also, our Assembly is quite small, only 6 seats, including 4 departments. This means that a) we don't need a whole lot of candidates, and reduce the chances of getting deadbeats in the Assembly, and b) that each Assembly member has a fairly broad and interesting area of responsibility.

I would, for instance, hate to be minister of culture. What does he do? Push for the construction of cultural imrpovements? Leave that up to the MoI.
 
I think this is quiete inventive to solve it that way! Cudos to your democracy and especially to your MoD!

Another question:
How could we arrange founding an embassy at your nation? (i propose AJ as ambassador btw).
Is it possible to have 1 thread open for non-citizens to post to? Or do you have a special "subforum" where non-citizens (but members of the community) can post to?
I would prefer the later, as when discussions on special topics rise up in the embassy we could spawn to other threads instead of cluttering the embassy-thread ;-)
 
We can easily set up an open-for-all forum in the 1BC DG section which can be used as an embassy - or, if you prefer, sort of a UN forum including Poly and any other DG's we may come across (again I ask - where can I find GameCather DG?). It's also easy enough to sign up as a 1BC member, but not a citizen - I could then arrange for a special medal, title or avatar to distinguish various ambassadors or delegates.

I would prefer having the UN-Forum idea... 1BC could be acting like switzerland as neutral ground ;-)
A forum for inter-site communication... not bad idea i must say, mr.monkey!

I think signing up for the community itself should be mandatory for all to post there. Just to make sure we get to know them. Signing up as citizen i think does not make sense, as this will falsify your citzen counts and maybe even polls etc.
Having an avatar for every nation which officially built an embassy in the open forum would be nice.

It seems you guys really start to like the idea as much as we do :-)
