A New Hope: A Star Wars Mafia Game (Game Thread)

Partially just poor communication, most of the credits transfer PM's were sent to Zack too and I never knew just what he was doing with them. Still, I'm wondering should I have told Roman about TFA's credit transfer when TFA didn't? And what difference would it have made?

The same way he steals stuff without people knowing? I don't know.

One thing that helped out cause was when Nictel had john on the innocence list. That was when we decided that I should role play as the Emperor after Bad Player was killed. Reading the period after BPs death is very interesting in out QT since we very, very frustrated and thought our chances of winning had gone. So after the role play of mine I was able to stay alive an keep killing. And it was also good of Niklas to get Nictel to turn on Shadowbound. It would have been much better for me for my fellow siths to have voted for tailless instead of shadow and i would have killed him the following night and I would have got my PG. The vote was 5 in favour of shadow and 3 for tailless, so that could have switched around. Oh well.

And this is for tailless/Mace. How else could we have won this game without your help. This is a sign of our appreciation. We just kept looking on in awe and thinking that this is unbelievable all the innocents that were killed by him. :goodjob:

Also the night that Niklas forgot to vote, he was actually busy and he told me via IM about that and he apologised. Actually one we had got the numbers down we would have turned on Tarkin eventually.
I am wondering how many items I had at the end.

I'll begin to say that everything I said during my long "propaganda" rallies was actually completely true. I played this game completely honest! Well, at least while Bad Player was alive, and I considered him an ally. When he went down and the innocents turned on themselves, I threw caution to the wind and started playing both sides, eventually siding with the one that would bring about a win. I was actually rooting for Secura in the end, hoping she would rally the innocents and pick up on my (probably way too subtle) hints. I'm sure it would have been quite different had Csargo actually been around too. But I didn't root for her strongly enough to venture my own involvement in things. :mischief:

@TFA: When Nictel was asking around for money to pay me with, why didn't you give him any? I would gladly have sold out the entire mafia teams at that point for that money, I had both names and roles!

@Romanic: Let's just call it a draw, ok? You definitely played a good game.

@CH: Yes, I failed to vote taillesskangaru that night due to RL, which meant Takhisis went down instead. That was a bummer, but in the end it worked out alright.

@JHT: Giving 18 credits to my only opposition on the final day, after all I did for you??

My proudest moment of the game: Feeding Stuck in Pi to Darth Maul. That, along with my innuendos to Nictel regarding Shadowbound. I take half blame for that one... :mischief:

Great game all, and many thanks to Zack and Choxorn for the good execution. :worship:

@Rom: You dropped the ball, man. You could have been a Solo!

Instead you were just A TRAP!

I kind of expected you or Roman right around now to say something like "Hey, innocents, give me all your moeny and I'll tell you who the sith are"

@Romanic: Let's just call it a draw, ok? You definitely played a good game.

I'll make that official if he agrees to it, you both played amazingly and both of you deserve the win.

I was sort of wondering why Nictel was so set on Shadowbound being mafia, to the point of lying about scanning him. It both cost the innocents a valuable scanner and let Darth Maul live to (not) die another day.

Great game all, and many thanks to Zack and Choxorn for the good execution. :worship:

You're welcome. :)

@tailless: Don't act totally innocent, you also random-vig-killed Kennigit and never used your roleblock until the end. True, Nictel and Bad Player telling you to kill everyone didn't help, but still.

Heh, :mischief: I apologized.

Actually, I did roleblock wideyedwanderer at one point mid-game.

Oh and Earthling, if you read the Bounty Hunter thread, don't take it personally. I just tend to horribly be blunt when I'm in private :)

Where's the Bounty Hunter QT? I haven't seen that link posted yet. :hmm:

choxorn posted all the QTs in a long post a few pages back. I want to know who put a bounty on my head. Not that it would have been much good.

@tailless. If I were you I would have been roleblocking people like there was no tomorrow and once that happened, then I would go and kill that person once nothing happened.

I don't think you should take on Jabba personally. He's bound to be heavily protected.
I saw a similar comment by Methos in one of the Jedi QTs. It's quite astonishing how one little lie can work so completely in my favor through the whole game really. I had absolutely no protection! (Except for the nights when Bad Player was working off his debt to me.)

Was it Krill who put the bounty on me?

Zack in the Dead People QT said:
I can't believe that everyone wants the slave, even though he's totally worthless to everyone except Niklas.
Um, I couldn't use any items, how was it not worthless to me??

Well, I was working off Star Wars norms there. If only we'd known that, we'd have taken you out and probably won the game for the innocents :)

We have no idea whom set the bounties. We just acted on them.

I'm not sure I deserve this win,

You do deserve the win though. The pyro, the most underpowered of all, prevailing against all odds. C'mon, nice work!

Honestly if I was neutral I might have been a bit more concerned over the little mini-competition all the neutrals had. The Bounty hunters at least could have killed people at will - place their own bounty on someone and then kill them. And apparently the goal wasn't even so much to have the most credits, as to be the last neutral standing, who'd win by default.

Now they did serve the purpose we Innocents/Jedi guessed earlier on - most of the Innocents were too poor to bribe anyone, and the neutrals mostly served to get bought off by the Mafia like many of us tried to give warning. But maybe it would have been cool if credits had a few more uses (abilities that used them up, for Innocents or Mafia), or stockpiles of credits can up to vote along with the items dead people had.

The same way he steals stuff without people knowing? I don't know.

Niklas stole from me in that last NOTW game without my knowing (that was the GM though ;)). He even came back to life without anyone knowing!

Oh, and Arakhor, no, it's not taken personally. It was unfortunate not to be protected again, but we were expecting the attacks, and the purpose (which worked well throughout the early game) was to have a way to get people in contact, and to sort out the neutral situation/get them taken care of. I've said many times on Dead QT or elsewhere that it was a failure to not get Niklas lynched but on balance it was all right, it was time for me to die.

And actually I should apologize to OST for accusing him of being a bounty hunter. But then he wasn't around much and never got in contact with the "Brotherhood."

Oh, and tailless, if you didn't read it on the dead QT, I'm not blaming you and the mafia here are just being harsh. Actually the GMs too. In fact, I'd have a much longer list of people in trouble before you in the early game, for not getting in contact or helping out, and then the rest of it wasn't really your doing and I wouldn't put that on your shoulders, it was some other odd calls.

Really I think what did things in most, though a couple Innocent lynches/vig kills weren't great but those were group follies, is that we lost Luke at the end. Raskolnikov/Luke knew just about everything any Innocent knew; Bad Player or tailless might have missed some discussion and didn't have as much contact/feel for people's roles maybe. Considering all the Innocents brought together at the start, it really wasn't possible for Qui-Gon/Yoda/Leia to be traitors, or else that would have become known much earlier. And Luke apparently could have killed Darth Maul or any other Sith at night, almost certainly if he protected Leia at the end. Besides of course that he would have been able to vote.

I was actually rooting for Secura in the end, hoping she would rally the innocents and pick up on my (probably way too subtle) hints.

Thanks, but I made my own mistakes and I don't think I was the right person to rally anyone at all; I'd put my role out there repeatedly when asked, but still wasn't trusted whatsoever... was it because I'm new here? Was it because my role was a bit niche/useless compared to Yoda or Obi-Wan Kenobi? Would it have even changed anything?

I think that changing my tactics compared to how I play at the Org (a bit more outspoken and a hell of alot more active) worked as so far as to get me to the end of a large game for the first time in forever, but I think my playstyle was ultimately stifled by such an approach.

Which hints were you making that I didn't pick up on?

@TFA: When Nictel was asking around for money to pay me with, why didn't you give him any? I would gladly have sold out the entire mafia teams at that point for that money, I had both names and roles!

The funny thing is that Romanic gave them the names of Darth Maul and Palpatine for three credits, and they didn't believe him; would they have believed you for ten times that amount? xD

@Romanic: Let's just call it a draw, ok? You definitely played a good game.

At least there's some sportsmanship going on; you both earned it anyway. :3

I was sort of wondering why Nictel was so set on Shadowbound being mafia, to the point of lying about scanning him. It both cost the innocents a valuable scanner and let Darth Maul live to (not) die another day.

Still don't get this either.

He couldn't help it... his is the lightsaber that says "BMF" on the side.
