A New Name

I'm fine with a poll. I like Vox Populi. I've said that already. CPP->CPOP in no way affects that.

"You heard of Vox Populi?"

"Naw, dawg, what's that?"

"It's the Community Patch Project Community Patch and Overhaul Project!"
"What's the Community whatever-you-said?"

Das ist alles.

Too plebeian. In actuality, a conversation between two civ players would be more like:

"Hath thy ears ever been in contact with the information about the existence of a mod Vox Populi for game Civilisation 5?"

"'Tis not a mod I hath ever heard about, my dear companion. Wouldst thou care to provide any additional details pertaining the aforementioned mod, the name of which I know well means voice of the people? Or cease thy explanation, I care not! On second thought, I findeth the usage of Latin highly pretentious and the incredibly arrogant naming makes me highly unwilling to try out the mod thou hath mentioned. I shall play Minesweeper instead, you pompous poof! Arrogant amateur of old, deceased languages!"

"Supreme scallywag! Vicious villain! Latin usage is a sign of wisdom and education, not arrogance!"

But that defeats the whole purpose of changing the name. If the project is still called CPP or whatever, then that's what people are going to call it. Changing the name of CBP doesn't change anything other than that you now have a less descriptive name for it. I would give you an example but I don't want to use Cox Fapuli in it, come to think about it, this is my post I can call it whatever I want.

Okay, the project is now called Trade and Treachery, or TaT for short. To sum it up:

CPP -> Trade and Treachery (TaT)
CP -> Base Patch (BP)
CBP -> Overhaul Patch (OP)

If someone is just using the CP, that user would identify it as TaT:BP, Someone using CP and CBP would identify it as TaT:OP and someone running everything, including CSD and C4D and more luxuries, would identify it as Full TaT or TaT:Full.

In a conversation it would go something like this:

1. Hey man, I just discovered this new awesome CivV mod called TaT, have you heard of it?
2. Yes, duh, I've been playing it since forever.
1. I found it because some guy called JFK or something like that requires the use of TaT:BP to play his mods, are you running TaT:BP or TaT:OP?
2. I'm running TaT:Full of course, you dirty peasant, now get out of my sight.

Or we can use a catchy last name (like ubuntu: precise pangolin)

CPOP: Vox populi

So, official update time.

The CPP will soon be known as Vox Populi.

The CBP will soon be known as the Community Balance Overhaul.

These changes will be part of the next official version of the project.

These were the most acceptable and well-received solutions to the problem, and I think they will do a fine job. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this discussion.

Disregarding Vox Populi, because clearly it doesn't matter how much I hate on it, I'm still not sold of CBO, it sounds unnecessarily long and descriptive.

If the whole project is capped VP or VPP (VP Project) just renaming CP to BP (Base-patch) and CBP to OP (Overhaul patch) or BO (Balance Overhaul) makes a lot more sense to me.
1. It is shorter, under-titles are usually best at 2 word/letters (disregarding words like The, Of, For, On, A, And and so on).
2. It doesn't overwhelm the project title in the way that VP:CBO would
3. It drops Community from the name (I know you like the word Community, but I'm still with JFD on this).
4. It is clearly separated from the old name, having a name that's too close to the old one usually makes a name-change seem weird and forced and usually ends up in more confusion.

Thought about that, but BO = Body Odor in my mind. :D

And VP can stand for "Virtuous Pedophiles". CP can stand for "Child pornography", "Cerebral palsy", "Corporal punishment", "Communist Party" or "cheese pizza".
CBO is usually seen as a Chicken Bacon Onion sandwich.

You're not going to find an acronym that isn't used (at least assuming you're reasonable and don't go above 3 letters)

I imagine we both prefer Chicken Bacon Onion sandwiches to Body Odor, so it sounds like we're in agreement on the issue.

Body Odor is a natural part of life, Chicken Bacon Onion Sandwiches is an abomination, so no, we are not agreed. Besides, my 4 points still stand, CBO just isn't a very good name.

Sounds good G. So the overall project (? Don't even know what CPP was!?) is called Vox Populi, and the main sub-mod of the project gets a more fitting title.

Excellent! This is a significant improvement over the current name. Good job.

I was trying to find a suitable clapping GIF for this, but I'm not as well versed in that as most dank memers out there.

This will have to do:

I was talking about this mod with my friend and accidentally called the new name as Pox Vopuli. It's gonna be one of those days.
