b) That God cannot have certain traits, because evil exists?

I agree with B, but disagree strongly with A. And reading the Bible (cover to cover, I've done it) only made sure I wouldn't be a fundamentalist Christian, it could never make me an atheist.

Okay, but that still doesn't establish that either a) the Bible is 100%, literally and inerrantly accurate, OR b) God doesn't exist. That's a false dichotomy.

Some very religious people will say the Bible is not the literal word of God.

That's what Eran is telling you. The Bible being inerrant has nothing to do with the existence of God.

Whether it is or isn't, you are still not understanding what we are saying - that it is possible for God to exist without being exactly as the Bible describes Him/Her/It/Them.

Now about the inconsistencies look at the bible and its history. It was originally put in to its written form by Constantine in the 300's A.D. hundreds, if not thousands, of years after most of the events mentioned happened. Now there are so many version of the bible that its not even funny.

First off, this bump irks me.

Secondly, the text I quoted is not based on reality.

a) How does this irk you?

The overwhelming majority of so-called religiously motivated or confessional violence has not actually occurred due to those things, nor would less human suffering have resulted if they did not occur.

I know dcmort93, but the dead sea scrolls have copies of the old testament that are 2000+ years old and so have been translated less making it more likely to be closer to what the original books say... and less copying mistakes

Like?? How can people say that wars like the crusades or the events going on in the middle east today are not religiously motivated when the very people fight in them are saying that God wills it??
