A study of atheism worldwide

Are you trying to argue:

a) That God doesn't exist, because evil exists?
b) That God cannot have certain traits, because evil exists?
c) That people who have certain views of God are ignorant or irrational, because evil exists?

only a and b :)
people cling to guns and religion, i became an atheist after i read the Bible, yes reading it made me an atheist

"Arthur hoped and prayed that there was no afterlife. Then he realized that this was a contradiction, so he just hoped there wasn't one."

I am paraphrasing. Of course, prayer and an afterlife are separate issues anyways.

no, i read the Bible and i realized that it almost sounds like Taliban wrote it and i saw all the contradictions
I don't get your paraphrase

no, i read the Bible and i realized that it almost sounds like Taliban wrote it and i saw all the contradictions
Which invalidates all religions how?

I also read the Torah and the Koran, then i gave up after that,
My point is that it can't be the literal word of god if it has so many contradictions

Some very religious people will say the Bible is not the literal word of God.

That's what Eran is telling you. The Bible being inerrant has nothing to do with the existence of God.

Maybe not.

But that is irrelevant to the existence of God.

Of course, ninja'd to my own argument.

It is so full of BS that it makes a big dairy farm look like its clean

Good point, It is just the Bible that is full of BS and the Torah and Koran to lesser amounts

Now about the inconsistencies look at the bible and its history. It was originally put in to its written form by Constantine in the 300's A.D. hundreds, if not thousands, of years after most of the events mentioned happened. Now there are so many version of the bible that its not even funny.

First off, this bump irks me.

Secondly, the text I quoted is not based on reality.

a) How does this irk you?
b) How is this not based on reality

Maybe when the dead sea scrolls are translated we can accurately know what the old testament says

Well from what I've heard from my Jewish friends the old testament and the Torah are almost one in the same correct

a) How does this irk you?
Because I don't like long bumps unless Godwynn does them. Just make a new thread if it's that important, I guess.

The overwhelming majority of so-called religiously motivated or confessional violence has not actually occurred due to those things, nor would less human suffering have resulted if they did not occur.

I know dcmort93, but the dead sea scrolls have copies of the old testament that are 2000+ years old and so have been translated less making it more likely to be closer to what the original books say... and less copying mistakes

Like?? How can people say that wars like the crusades or the events going on in the middle east today are not religiously motivated when the very people fight in them are saying that God wills it??
