Periander continued expanding Greeces Empire, yet indirectly. Some of the families of the Elder Council members banished from Athens when Cypselus took power ended up settling down in Byzantium, a city hugging two continents and the Bosporus Strait.
Meanwhile, the Roman menace continued to expand. Periander, now declining in both health and mental state tried to create good diplomatic ties with the new Latin peoples by signing a right- of- passage agreement. But they both knew it was only a front. And that the relationship would not end well.
