Next model, this time from another epoch, was a request from myself.

the A7 Corsair II

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-7_Corsair_II

the model has 1090 vertices and 1115 Triangles, 2 * 256 textures and uses the JetFighter animation

Scale used for the pictures was 0.48

the roundel on the texture is not from me (wikipedia, was to lazy)

Next model will be the Loire-Nieuport LN.401 (wolfshanze request), but this time i will not be able to finish it till tomorrow

Thanks for the offer, The_Coyote. Meanwhile Xenomorph already teamcolored your unit. It's perfect now for use for several civs. For instance Greece and Portugal have their own early jetfighter now. :D

Ummm... but the A7 Corsair II isn't a jet fighter... it's an attack aircraft... closer-kin to a bomber then a fighter. The A-7 Corsair II is a carrier-based subsonic light attack aircraft design that was introduced to replace the A-4 Skyhawk in US Naval service. :dunno:

I know it's an attack aircraft... perfect for an early dedicated naval (jet)fighter class thus. :yup:

Once again... this was never a fighter... it was an attack aircraft (as-in air to ground)... yes it's naval, but it's not a "fighter" in any use of the word.

Naval Bomber... Naval Light Bomber, Naval Attack Aircraft... but nowhere should the term "Fighter" be applied with this unit.

Like Xeno said... if you want an early naval jet FIGHTER, you'd want something else, like a F9F Panther or something. The Corsair II was never built or intended for fighter/air superiority roles... think A6 Intruder... it's just ground attack, not air superiority.

Ask for a F9F Panther if you want an early jet naval fighter! (or you can just use a navalized F4 Phantom).

*sigh*
Are you two going to sit on my back just because I use the Civ4 xml terminology?
Besides, those few times I 'asked around' for a new unit, nothing came from it. For instance I asked for the British Astute class as a counterpart for the Akula class. :(

Probably...

Not sure what you meant about "asking around" for a unit... I don't recall any mass campaign to prevent the Corsair II from being made. It's a good model and definately can be put to good use... it's just not a "fighter".

@GeoModder

i made a fast search in the internet, sorry but i found now blueprints of the Astute, so this model will not be in the near future (don´t ask me what i mean with near). But if you have a request, write it, if i found it cool, i will see if i made it, see the LN 401.

another question, is there a F-104, a F-4 Phantom II or a Fairey Swordfish already out?

No, Yes, No.

Only the Phantom has been made out of those three.
