AA02: Catherine's Aggressive Adventures

So, after my bad cold I finally had the chance to actually play these turns. As I played from Kikinits save - which came with anarchy - I took an extra turn and played 11. This is how things panned out...

Battle Stats:
Units victorious while attacking : 7
Units victorious while defending : 0
Units withdrawing while attacking: 1
Units defeated while attacking : 1
Units defeated while defending : 0
Units escaping while attacking : 1

Ruff has worked on the BUG logger again and included unit withdrawl, which you can see in the Battle Stats and later in the log. Neat work ! :goodjob:

My set started with Hannibal asking us to declare on Washington. Sure, if it keeps you happy...

74713943eg0.jpg

Monty dropped by too and requested a trade embargo on the bald man. No, we'll not do that. Especially as you'll be our next victim, madman...

I had switched over most of our cities to much needed infrastructure buildings (Courthouses, Librarys, etc.) and whipped a lot. I deemed our army strong enough to get rid of France. And after bombarding his last Cities to 0% the Cats went in...

Turn 250/750 (1050 AD) [20-Mar-2008 20:16:25]
While attacking, Catapult 5 of Novgorod (Catapult) escapes from French Archer (Prob Victory: 32.5%)
While attacking in French territory at Chartres, Catapult 7 of Moscow (Catapult) loses to French Archer (0.84/3) (Prob Victory: 73.4%)
While attacking, Catapult 8 of Rostov (Catapult) decimates French Archer (Prob Victory: 76.8%)

...followed by our Infantry...

64462201hp6.jpg

...and just like that the French were dead (neat rhyme, aint it ? :D ) !

65472515wa7.jpg

I tried to send Joao vs. Monty, but no luck. We can't bribe him yet.

15811126ib8.jpg

I traded Ivory for Fish and Horses from Baldy. Therefore I switched research to HR. War Elephants anyone ? :yup:

36904358ac3.jpg

We clearly rock !

79567584ld3.jpg

A fact that is supported by the tech screen...

37922068ia3.jpg

...and the info screen...

Our army is healing at the north of Ex-France, I think Monty is the next obvious target. A Spy has already brought us some intel about his lands...

good turns, and I've got it.

will move forward on teh specialization i laid out above (as we've got no discussion on that), and take the fight to monty if i can. also, please try to play at least 15 turns per set, though more is fine. As I said, i'd rather people play to a natural stopping point rather than a hard turn length (as long as its at least 15 turns ~ it IS epic after all!)

Well, the end of the war against France was a natural stopping point ;) :D

Reporting back for active duty, sir :salute:

Maybe Negy should take it?

sorry guys ~ w/easter and a pretty big exam coming up in 3 weeks that will determine my family's future  I fell off a bit. I will NOT be able to play today, but can tomorrow, so if negy can play tonight, go for it.

apologies again, but this is why i've been slimming down my SGs

Guys, I'm going to be out of action for a few weeks. The time has come for me to leave the UK and go back home and I've packed my PC into some boxes and they won't be at my home in Singapore for a week or maybe more.

I'll let you know when I can get back into the action.

To start with, I MMed our cities with our new specializations in mind, and was able to go up to 40% sci w/ -13 gpt. I’m also going to prepare for the war with monty, and to that end, form a 2nd army to move from his southwest, while our veteran army moves from the west.

1100 ad: Joao cancelled our deal for cows, and I went ahead and renegotiated for silk instead for 7 gpt. Churchill also declared on Monty, too. This will be good to help us out down the line. Perhaps he’ll take that strategically ugly Aztec city just under England’s borders. I merged teh GG at Moscow for more xp at our military producer, and whipped the library at Marseilles. I stuck in scientists there, and elsewhere in our empire where possible. Also, at Yaroslavl, our GPF, I have 2 sci’s and 2 merchants. (At the end of my turns, there were those 4 plus and eng and spy.)

1110:
Joao again came by:
01.jpg

I *really* didn't want to giv out MC, but figured it was in our best interests right now to walk small w/Joao. With the Hindu lovefest on the continent, we will need to figure out what the best way to win this game will be.

HBR also came in, and I decided on Machinery for the maces. We need a couple more workers, too, so I built 3 more over the course of my turns. I was a little dismayed to see that most of our workers were going it solo across our empire. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I prefer to have them at least work in pairs so that they are able to get specific cities up and running as fast as possible. I tried to do that, but if you find a lone worker, try to find it’s soulmate running around, too :)

1140 ad:
02.jpg

I took this. Nobody else wanted HBR (most had it or had nothing to trade).

1210 ad:
The MoM was built:
03.jpg

I can only guess who started that one :mischief:

S Bull had a couple good ideas:
04.jpg

05.jpg

I took both, figuring we should close borders with monty anyway as he has several units wandering our empire.

1240 ad:
Our good friend Pacal came by, too:
06.jpg

I took this one, as well. Machinery was out there already; we are NOT the tech leader so I don’t know how much of a chance at liberalism we have in the future, but we’ll see.

We hit 5 million people in 1260 ad:
07.jpg

A lot of good numbers there, especially first in land and power!

And I took another trade for Machinery:
08.jpg

Christianity was also FIDL this turn.

Next turn, in 1280, Cristobal Colombo was born:
09.jpg

Notice he’ll bulb Guilds, but, with MoM, I think a GAge is the best use for him.

I stopped at 1295 ad when Engineering came in, and we’ve got two armies ready to move into Aztec lands next turn (or even before you push enter):

I suggest moving the new army 1E and the veteran army 1S1E before declaring. That way, you only need to move them once to be right next to a city to attack.

Otherwise nice turns, Pholk :goodjob:

Turn 280: GM started GAge
Declared on Monty

Turn 282:
I had to admit didn't defend Chartres with enough units -> Monty captured it  I took back next turn, but it slowed down the northern stack

K. Got it for tomorrow. Looks like I'll continue to push forward on the war front.

I hope we can take the capital, not only for the shrine, but just for strategic reasons.

good turns, negy ~ did you merge the GG to a pike?? or is that a different one in the pic of 'taking' texcoco

Took a look around our cities and MM to match each cities specialty and avoid growth where happiness cap is reached and grow where there are room. This brought our gpt down to -5 at 50% from -17.

Sent the GG for MI duty at Novrogod, another prod city. No idea what to do with the GM yet, so I left him where he's at.

We don't have enough to take Tenochtitlan, so I decided to gamble a bit and let Joao throw his stack at it. Hopefully he won't be able to take it and we can take it next turn.

Pacal came with a demand ... I thought about it for awhile and turned him down. He's still friendly with us.

Then Churchill came with a trade. Turned him down as well. I didn't want him getting any military techs when he could be our next target.

Joao didn't take Tenochtitlan, but he did bring down it's defenses to 27% from 60%. We take it losing only 2 pults. No shrine though

Our golden age came to an end and I have to cycle through our cities to MM again because of the extra unhappiness and redlined gpt.

Philosophy came in.

I decided to research Guild next and burn the GM on it bringing it down to 2 turns from 12 turns.

Guilds came in and I set research to Liberalism next. Who knows, we might get it.

 and he only has 2 cities left and our 2 stacks are at their doors.

I stopped here. We have 2 decent sods

we need to figure out who our next target is. I have been building both infra and military. Switched some cities to stables for knights. We're -33gpt at 40% science, and Lib will come in 12 turns.

Good turns! While I'm sad Monty didn't vassalize to us, we do have most of his cities.

So where did we put that forbidden palace? Or did we capture a forbidden palace causing us to need to build Versailles?

I still haven't fixed my fried desktop, but I'm about to buy a new Civ-able laptop soon, some time around next week and two weeks from now. For now, I'll need an indefinite skip.

Found him attached to a spear, I just upgraded to pike for free.

we need to figure out who our next target is.
We are surrounded by Portugal and his vassal. I feel he is the obvious target, the only  problem, he is ahead of us in power. Knights will help a lot on this. I would increase the EP spending towards Portugal to see what is he researching.

good turns, though it does suck about having a joao vassal on our side.

also, i don't think you can capture an FP. My guess is that it would just disappear since it's a national thing.

I agree on Joao, though it'll be a tough row to hoe. I'm also not sure we have the finances to go after anybody else. Perhaps we should focus on infra for a bit, and go at him with upgraded troops~grens and canon??

I also might go ahead and see if we can't find another player for the game.
