Don't get around much anymore
It happens to us all at one time or another: when you just can't get a particular tune or song out of your head and it goes with you all day. I want to know what the civfanatics have been either enjoying or putting up with as they go about their business. This is not for any kind of sociological experiment so feel free to openly express the junk that goes through your head. If at times it feels as though you are carrying a jukebox of Britney Spears' greatest hits on your shoulders then share it with us and lighten the load. Who knows, you may even pick up an even more annoying song to carry with you when someone else mentions it.

Recently I have had the following playing in my head:

Hello Dolly and Mack the Knife (some classic jazzy show tunes),
The theme to Dad's Army (classic British TV sitcom),
I wanna dance with somebody by Whitney Houston,
Rockin' around the Christmas Tree by Johnny Marks and
Spanish Harlem (Aretha Franklin version).

So what about you? Don't be embarrassed! :D

Shoebox by the Barenaked Ladies.

It has a chant in the middle that sticks:

li-ie,li-ie,li-ie-ei-ei-ei.
li-ie,li-ie,li-ie-ei-ei-ei.
li-ie,li-ie,li-ie-ei-ei-ei.
li-ie,li-ie,li-ie-ei-ei-ei.
li-ie,li-ie,li-ie-ei-ei-ei.
li-ie,li-ie,li-ie-ei-ei-ei.

AHHRGH!

Oh dear, I knew this would happen. I have never heard of the song you mean, but seeing that all written out made my think of the lie la lie bit from Simon and Garfunkel's The Boxer, which is one of my favourite tunes. That's going to be playing in my head for ages. Which I don't mind that much. :D

God, I feel sorry for you!

Going back a few years, "Two Princes" by the Spindoctors following a magnificent guest appearence on Sesame Street (1998)
"Miss Freelove 69" by the Hoodoo Gurus (1998)
mmmbop 1997-present day

Mostly I enjoy the experience of having a song in ones head (being used to all sorts of strange phenomena and voices up there), but I really hate when I don't know what song it is.
It is thus that I'm at the absolute end of my wits in trying to identify what song a snippet of Celtic music is from. It played at the end of one episode of a documentary called "Endgame in Ireland", but I am pretty sure I had heard it somewhere before, quite possibly at the end of a film.
The snippet in question consists of a female voice singing words to the effect of "Sha-na na-thra", or something that sounds vaguelly like that.
Tis a fools quest I know, but I will find out what it was from, if it is the last thing I ever do!!!!!:o
 :crazyeyes

He-he... You all got the music in your head - I've got it in my hands. Or to be more exact in my new "fender" American strat....

Da-Da-Da get's stuck in my head. I also hate nursey rhymes b/c they do it also.

But then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like "I love you..."

Duet by Nicole Kidman (yummy) and some dude she just did a movie with. Saw the video and I went to bed with it in my head, and it carried over to today. I kinda like the song though... Maybe it's just Nicole Kidman... :p

Some dude? You live in America, right? Boy, you're lucky. If we are thinking of the same person, that is Britain's most popular male singer. AHHHH!

I don't wanna rock (rock) DJ,
Cause you're making me feel so nice!

AHHHHHH! STUPIDSONGGETOUTOFMYHEAD! AHHHHHH!

Je N'en Connais Pas La Fin... i don´t even know what that means, but it´s playing in my head. pretty lame i guess.

and the unreleased jeff buckley song forget her.

BASTARD!! I can't get it out of my head now!! And I never even knew the words to the chorus or the name of that damn song until you wrote it out! I'd just heard it as background noise on radios!

This should be a felony in some countries!

It's time to retaliate:

Worst experience I'd had on this front was reading a recent article in the Toronto Star on the crappy 80s sitcom "the Facts of Life." They were filming a reunion (why?) here in Toronto and the reporter is on set, and he starts whistling "the irritating yet unforgettable tune to the original show. And then [the woman who played Blair] came up to me, pointed her finger and said "no - we can't allow that kind of thing here"

I'm paraphrasing the article, of course.

And as soon as I read those words, from the deep recesses of my mind, I was invaded by a power more eville than Kitten of Chaos, more savage than an argument with Iceblaze:

"You take the good
You take the bad
You take it all
And there you have
The Facts of Life,
The facts of Life

(bla bla bla parts here)
And finally
You're finding out
The facts of life
are all about -you!
Doo doo doo doo doo"

Take THAT, Duke.

Im just going to post some lyrics from many songs and its up to you to guess which songs are stuck in my head.
It really depends on which one I heard latley.

You and me baby ain't nothing but mammals so lets do it like they do on the discovery channel

Lucky that my breast are small and humble so you don't confuse them with mountains.

If I die before I wake at least in heaven I can skate

Can't you see Im breaking apart eternally, my life is all I can see and all that life is you

Gonna have more money than you have ever seen gonna light my cigarates with hundred dollor bills cause Im dirty rottin filthy stinkin RICH

can you help me Im bent

Link he come to town, come to save the princess zelda

It's French. Litteraly: I don't know the end of it/I can't see its end... something like that. That reminds me the song of a cute cartoon I used to watch when I was young... it was about a white dolphing, Oum was its name. Raaah nostalgy, nostalgy.

PS: btw, it's also normal that you don't know the end of mine  ;) :D

King Tut...

Or a silly song I heard on Bob and Tom that still catches me off guard sometimes...

It goes something like this:

She's got the same laugh, she's got the same smile, and lord know's she made me feel good for awhile...

And that's why, I had sex with your sister.:)

It goes on with a few more verses, the favorite being: That's why I love your nieces to pieces...

A hilarious tune.

--American Pie, the Madonna version because of that repetetive 'we started singing' part, that just kept going round and round in my head "we started singing...we started singing...we started singing..." over and over

--Love potion number 9 -:nuke:- by I can't remember who

--Some French song I heard in French class

--Let's dance by five

Probably others too... :(

"Jump, Jive and Wail" by the Brian Setzer Orchestra has been in my head lately.

Love that swing though! :D

Kefka, I may be showing my age here, and my absolute lack of coolness, but I have only ever heard the first of the songs you listed and that was in the background to some television programme.

Richard III, I apologise for inflicting Whitney Houston on you but I'm afraid that I am immune to your comeback as I have never had the pleasure/misfortune (delete as applicable) of watching Canadian television and so do not know the tune playing in your head.
