Acid_01: Emperor

Turns Completed.

We have 1 great artist popped in Karokorum, we also have another one coming in our GP farm. I think we should use these to culture bomb and get the necesary land to win. We are at 55% right now, It will be close but we might be able to tweak 62% without having to invade other island.

So anyways, declare peace with Saladin for 10 turns and Divine right. Once 10 turns is over we should finish him off, use our artists to culture bomb and get necesary land for win.

The save:

It is continental map. Continents allwasy generated in a such way so owning one continent is not enogth to win.
We will need as minimum settle on couple small islands.

Ok, next player should get a couple of galleys up and settle that unsettled island to the west. That should give us enough land to win I think.

Check our civics and amusingly enough, we have 25 or so cities and are still in bureaucracy. Revolt to free speech immediately, and since it's 3 turn anarchy I throw in slavery too to rush a couple of settlers and galleons. This immediately puts our science rate up 10%, then I whip a new palace in Damascus and some courthouses and cultural buildings, which puts our science rate up another 10%.

Gathered the various scattered troops we had sitting around our cities and eliminated Mansa with Cover grenadiers.

Declared war on Saladin once the peace treaty was up and rolled over Najran.

I prepared two settlers in a galleon heading to the island and our great artist is ready to culture bomb Najran for the next player but on the last turn of my set Free Speech causes several cultural expansions and this comes up:

Our score is 126688, thanks all for a good game.

Immortal anyone?

haha 126688 is sweet score!
anyway i'll be starting a new game in a few days (as soon as i'm done with finals damn..)
you seriously up for immortal game uber?

guys, this was awesome and your different strategy really worked...uberfish, could post the replay here for us? it's not that I get such a score every day...

let's try immortal :D

Congrats folk, but strange that we did not need to settle an island.
I think it is probably would be a record score for succession game.
WE could try immortal, but as I say we were lucky with starting position this game.

Replay attached, enjoy!

I have won domination on continents before without ever leaving my starting continent, it's not that uncommon. (generally on continents my personal style in solo games is to only go for domination if I had 5/7 civs on my starting continent which usually gives domination off 1 continent. If not I do the space race.)

I agree we had a favourable starting position, but we still pulled off a really crushing victory despite the imperfect coordination and I think we all learned some things from the experience. With a bit more discussion between turns especially about those damn specialists, I think we can take immortal.

Add: need to give the game a cool name so we get some observers, it's always fun!

it's settled then. Just give me a couple of days and i'll start Immortal.
In the mean time, please decide what leader do we want.

my choice 1. HC
2. Munsa

Does that mean that you want financial civ with early UU?
To be true Ihate financial civs, but that up to the team.

In addition, we had additional think in our favor in this game - no barbarians.
So, what kind of map and setting do we want?

actually, barbarians are not that hard to handle, I find them annoying more then anything else. In last game everyone expanded so quickly that they didn't make any difference. Some people see them as obstacle I see them as new city without settler. We could turn them off in new game however.
As for financial.
I like Incas for their excellent UU, so even if we do have barbs, we could own them easily. Munsa is very versatile with his spiritual trait. Also has solid UU, in case we have no bronze (and choose to play with barbs).
So it’s not that I really want financial because of the trait itself, although when playing immortal, it is a huge bonus. I don't see why you hate that trait.
As for map, i'd really like to play Inland_sea, i think it's cool map, but i know you hate it, so whatever we decide is ok.
What do you suggest for civ and map?

My personal suggestions as far as leader are: Montezuma, Alex, Cyrus or Tokugawa. Some guys I have not used so far in my other games :p. Huayana or Musa is fine also.

Map wise: Not inland lake, ive played it so much already. Highlands Large lakes is fine by me, Fractal maybe?

Anything is fine though, those are just some I want to do.

Actially I am complitly open to civ or map. I think it is up to the team.
We got a good team here, that even tolerate each other (especially mine)differences in opinion and still can work together.

So, I am open to all sugestions. May be finantial would not be so bad. Last time I played finantial was my second monarch game and I do not play monarch for some time now.

Saying that about my general preferences.
May I suggest Fractial Map? I did play a few games latelly on it and found it very unpredictable with very interesting strategical/diplomatic opportunities.

One migth found himself with all civ on tree like continent or bunch of islands connected by coast or different continents. In some way it is hurder then continents/pangea, in other it did give more strategic options.

About prefured leader. I think I am complitly open. May be I did not play financial for to long, exploring everything GP's can give.

May be we should try something different? Like Cyrus or Alex?

I do not think there any SG using this 2 leaders.

I like fractal.

I was thinking we could go for a philo civ this time maybe and see what we can do with GP teching. The only trouble with this is we might end up stepping on each others' toes with hiring and firing specialists again if we're not careful to discuss.

I'm a random civ player so don't really mind any leader. (Though I think inca and romans are somewhat cheesy with their UU.) My vote's for Alex or MM out of the ones so far suggested, maybe Elizabeth or Mao.

i dont like phil civs too much since they recquire diff. strategy i think, and terrain plays a role here as well. Somehow i'd like to have spriritual trait in my pocket and abuse it do the max, so Munsa would be great as well as Sahaladin, if we decide on phil civ. :hmm:
On the other hand Agressive trait is my favorite so any agreesive would do.
Monty?? If every civ had 3 traits

Roster:
---------
acidsatyr
uberfish
Mutineer
Qwack
ThERat
(changed order from last time for no special reason).
If you want to step out from this (i dont see reason why) game, tell me now.

So far we have Fractal Map as out top choice. I would rather play some pangaea map, but this is cool. Definatelly going to be hard as hell, with the fact that we are not going to use financial civ. There i said it. I agree we should choose some less mainstream civ and so far i like Alex, Cyrus, and Saladin. Alex is agressive which is a huge bonus to begin with, Cyrus has excelent UU and is creative, and Sahaladin is spriritual which i think is really nice for diplomacy. Any win is a win in this one.
From these, i'd go for Alex (close call), i see most of you agree with him as well. Just confirm if you agree so i can roll a start, and we can start our disccusion.
