Acid_01: Emperor

I'm not signed up for SGOTM, I was hoping to play the next game one difficulty level up rather than down if we can ever agree on what to do with our stupid terrain improvements and specialists :p

I think we were lucky in this game, as we have ability to build 2 food ritch cities and had 4 capitals near as with all instantly avalible happiness resources. It does not happened every time.

Qwack up I think.

Actually, i would be glad to play immortal with you guys, i think it would be awsome experience, and no pressure if we loose, we loose. In fact while ago i started a game as incas but nobody registered (wonder y). Let me know if you want that. :goodjob:

Turns completed.

I believe Musa and Saladin both running theocracy now, so we cant spread religion to them anymore.. I started Courthouses in some more cities which didnt have it yet. Built some catupults/maceman.

Research gunpowder was done midway into the turnset, I started research into Chemistry after gunpowder came in. Chemistry due in 15.

Chopped Taj Mahal, which cuts research of chemistry to 8 from 12 I believe. I also started forbidden palace in washington, to hopefully help our research rate by reducing maintenance.

So anyways, I think we are close to ready to go after Musa. Our GNP/Mfg goods way up there with the golden age. Started a caravel in Moscow to explore where the other people are. I dont think our starting island will give us enough land area to win by domination, it will be close though. We'll see.

Uberfish, you have 10 turns of golden age to work with ;) .

The saVE

1160 AD (0) - Cancel monastery in Karakorum and start producing troops. I also order up some theatres to increase culture generally. Attempt to research chemistry with our scientist, but can't find him, I guess someone used him to build an academy?

1178 AD (3) - Mansa starts a golden age.

1202 AD (7) - Chemistry done, set gold to 100% for the rest of my turns to upgrade. Set research to astronomy, but no beakers are going into it for now so we can change this to banking if we want.

Trade liberalism to Mansa for guilds + 470 gold, then declare war on him and invade on three fronts (2 real stacks at Awdaghost and Walata, diversion at Kumbi Saleh down in the southeast.)

I attempt to draft grenadiers, then realise we're still in bureaucracy... I am not going to waste our golden age turns in revolt though and think I have enough troops to break Mansa anyway.

1208 AD (8) - Harrass stack pillages Mansa's horses, no more knights for him. He didn't take the bait and catapult it though.

Awdaghost is down and razed. Mansa has two stacks, size 5 and 7, of knights, maces and catapults heading in the general direction of Washington.

1214 AD (9) - Captured and kept Walata. Killed Mansa's 5 stack. Use cash looted from cities to upgrade more elite troops.

Our elephants are sucking, most of them have been killed by knights. On computer turn Mansa's second stack pillages the rice at Washington.

1220 AD (10) - Hit Mansa's 7 stack with catapults and then destroy ity. Lose quite a few outdated troops at unlucky odds anyway, but at least some catapults retreated.

Reorganise troops in the southern front to send a CR3 grenadier stack through the jungle towards Gao. Harrassment stack roaming around near Kumbi Saleh still trying in vain to draw catapult strikes (we could just use it to camp on the horses if Mansa doesn't take the bait.)

Mansa has a loose knight in the north. Our defenses are thin there due to Elephant losses but it's wounded for now and I think I killed all his other knights. A couple of turns worth of drafting will make us untouchable there anyway.

I left tech on astronomy but I would suggest that we go to Mercantilism and possibly Caste asap as foreign trade is currently worthless.

preturn -
there is an academy in NY !? and none in Washington. I think that solves the mystery
of missing scientist. I'd like to know the logic behind this move.

zzz = moving units

turn 1 - We are having a bit of a problem with happiness. Did we go for munsa right after HC? ok never mind
turn 2 - zzzzzz
turn 3 - zzzzzz
turn 4 - gao captured
turn 5 - zzzzzzzz
turn 6 - zzzzz, little more unhappiness
turn 7 - more zzzz lol, we are a war machine
turn 8 - zzzz
turn 9 - Djenne captured
turn 10 - I didnt move units again theRat
dont forget to turn the slider to 100% in a move or two.
I'd say this game is effectively over.

well, one can not draft Grenadeers.
Draftable units are:
Maceman (I think, never actially draft this one's), Muskets, Riffle, Infantry.

I would research AStronomy, as our continent would not be enogth for domination win.

got it, play later in the day...

yes, we need astronomy to get over to gain more land. Are we doing for domination or conquest.

And it was me who built the academy, maybe it was a :smoke: move but I used the city with the highest science rate and that was NY at that time.

I latelly stop building academies all together.

Simply put when you have 20 cities, increase in research by 50% in one of them is nothing.

Instant gratification of research is better in my book.

I might build academy in commercial capital when I run burocracy and ahve 1-2-3 cities.

washington was a mroe logical choice, but at this point it doesnt matter.
academy is a huge bonus at the beggining of a game , but later on its almost nothing.
domination or conquest, whatever makes more sense i think domination will be closer

I agree with the academy, sorry. Actually I think at that moment the tech gained wasn't that great, that why I went for an academy. I didn't know you can help research chemistry with it.

save

Pre-Turn
since Walata is starving, whip a theatre there
upgrade a bunch of units
increase lux to 10% and start research at 40%

1. 1286AD
march towards Mansa's cities, he has 5 left there

2. 1292AD
move next to his capital, and north as well

3. 1298AD
bomb and capture Tadmeka defeating 4 units there without losses
the rest of the units marches on northbound
at Timbuktu, sacrifice 2 cats
then attack, lose a 99.8% odd grenadier??? :gripe:
2 units left in the city

4. 1304AD
attack capital again
acid011304.jpg

need to increase lux to 20% to fight off WW

5.1310AD
attack Kumbi Saleh, sacrifice mace and elephant, so that our 3 grenadiers
can attack with great odds, take the city

Mansa has 2 useless cities left, march on to 1 of them let's see what he gives us for peace
a junk city...well, I think we will need to take him out then

6. 1316AD
raze that junk city of Tedeka, WW is high and he has only 1 city left
:) now he gives music and banking, so I go for that of course, we can take that city later on

do we want mercantilism? revolt for it and caste system to draw 3 turn anarchy, so long...

time to move our units south so we can take on Saladin

7. 1322AD
sending units south

8. 1328AD
good news, Toku has declared on Isabella, let them fight it out

9. 1334AD
Isabella asks us to go to war, but we need to decline for now
finally get out of anarchy
employ free scientists rather than engineers for our reseach, now at 40% 11 turn for astronomy

10. 1340AD
I think we are ready for the next war against Saladin, almost completed shifting units south
maybe we attack next turn

major stack in the south

It's look like would be a short win, we did play Empiror, did we? :)

Will play when come back from work.

these guys don't stand a chance against us!! :goodjob:
that SoD loks cute
who did fastest SG win on emperor here? can we do it

Turn 0
Declare on Saladin, move in.

Figting, last turn loast 6 greenadeers with 80+% chance to win attempting take Meduna.
I do not undestand why we revolted to useless Castle system?
We loosing a huge amount of population in new cities for nothing, unable to build any infrastructure.

It is mach easier to build culture for a turn and whipe theater then run artist.
Castle system is most useless for occupation.

Research set to republic.
Bunch of army collecting to take last Masta city.

Mainly, caste lets us run merchants wherever we like to sort our cash flow problem out, had a feeling it might be a problem in future when our science rate was stuck at max 40% and we'll probably have to use culture slider a bit when finishing the war with Saladin.

Edit, looked at the save now. Don't think starvation will be a problem so long as we take out Mecca soon. Then we just send a settler or two to the island above Japan/Spain, wait for borders to pop and we win.

Isted of castle system we should run slavery/Nationalism (0 up keep civic and Pacifism 0 upkeep civic).

Castle system preventing as from hiping any bacis improvements and waster population on starwation.
You do not see a problem but we probably lost 10+ population in my 10 turn for nothing.

I actually thought you were going to revolt us into nationhood on your last set Mutineer, which is why I was surprised when I couldn't draft anything. I would have revolted myself if all my turns hadn't been in golden age.
