Check out the picture below. Every once in awhile now since I updated to Windows 8.1 preview, IE does this. It'll start reserving some white space at the bottom of its window. I have to close and restart it for it to go away. The first thing that came to mind when I first saw it was an ad banner space being reserved. Do you guys think that's coming to Windows 8.1 or IE11 when the final release rolls out? IF so, I'm formatting and rolling back to Windows 7...

Just a bug.

If MS were to put ads in the OS I'd switch to Mac OS rather than Win7.

IIRC they already did that with Windows 8, at least to the degree that several of the built-in applications have ads in them. Though you can uninstall them, from what I understand they're there by default. To be fair, as far as I'm aware these are all applications that connect to the Internet, but I'm still inclined to agree with those who say that since you're already paying for the OS, the applications Microsoft provides with it should be ad-free.

That said, I still suspect this is probably just a bug. There probably would be a down arrow as well if the space were really being reserved. But I'm not confident enough that I'd bet on it. And on the plus side, even if IE gets ads, I doubt Windows 8 in general would, and there's competition on the browser front.
