I agree with you: participation, analysis, arguements, that's the good way.
But that is not exclusive of any style of play.
In the conquest of a continent, there is plenty of room for the warmongers to
speak about the troops they need, where they enter the theater, where they
go to, the timings of each conquest, the war garrisons and more, AND to do the
troops request (type, numbers, time and location to be put under their orders.
And for the builders (may I humbly see myself as one of them) to speak about
where to build the troops, how to support economy under war, pacific builds.
where cities pop must be, what workers must do to economy and to war.
