Hi everyone, just discovered this site while looking for a way to get Civ4 to run on my old dog cpu and decided it was time to get a new computer. I also need portability so it will need to be a laptop.

Here's what I need:

1. The ability to play Civ4!!

2. Not super heavy

3. A price near (preferrably under) $2000

I have been looking at some Acer's and also Dell's as I have a 20% employee discount with Dell, but I wanted some expert advice.

Feel free to e-mail me directly or just to respond on here.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Given that you get a 20% Dell discount, I'd say take a very hard look at the Dell XPS M170. Otherwise, I'd direct you to Alienware, but they're pretty pricey.

don't buy alienware, unless you have like a million dollars to throw away. total ripoff, but excellent products.
if your gonna go with dell, grab the XPS M170 like VRWCAgent said. I got an employee discount too, thats pretty much the only reason why i own a Dell, however

My friend brought hes from Auldi (cheapest laptop around)

He had it for now 2 years and no problems with it.

Watch for Dell discounts: they often offer $750 off for laptops $2000 or more, or $500 off on $1500 laptops and more.

If your discount doesn't trump dell's coupon codes (from the internet) I don't see how you could avoid buying a dell. I've bought a lot of refurb laptops from Newegg.com. I especially like Toshiba and Fujitsu. If it were my $$, I'd buy a Toshiba Tecra M4 Tablet. A 2ghz machine w/ 128mb vid, 1gb ram would be about $2000.
