After my 4 month hiatus, I decided to drop by and lurk. Went through the SG's looking for old friends and found AG6 Guess some of you have been busy.;)

Still trying to stay "clean" and haven't reinstalled civ yet. Maybe in a few months after I get a laptop and can play on the couch while wife watches TV. I keep telling her to let me move the desktop to the livingroom but she thinks its an eyesore.:rolleyes:

Anyway, enough threadjacking. Great game you guys are working on, even though you don't seem challenged enough.
 
preturn: We need the oil in Zulu's land. Maya has two rubbers! But one of it may fall into Egypt's land, in that case we'd have to buy from Egypt. Either way is fine. In the worst case, we can capture it from Ottoman. ;)

Too bad we have pollution on that mountain, otherwise we could make 80spt and build rifle or cav in one turn. I start a galleon, however.

(1)1665AD: To be careful I did an investigation on Bapedi: only 5 units (1 pike). So I'll send over 5 cav, 1 guerilla, 2 rifle, 1 worker. This needs two galleons.

Pollution will be cleared in 9 turns with 2 workers. The 3rd worker is ready to be sent to Zulu. I'll build another worker soon.

Mass Production in 8 with -11gpt.

(2)1670AD: Actually I think we don't need to send a worker over to Zulu as we WILL get slaves by razing Bapedi. So I order the 3rd worker to clean the new pollution.

I sell Steel to France for 40g+WM+257gpt. Not full price but OK for me! We don't need Fascism so I don't trade for that.

IBT France wants Facism for Refining I decline. Worker->Worker to get rid of the scientist. We can merge back always. Egypt builds Smith's.

(4)1680AD: Egypt got Steel. Maybe bought from France. Should have sold to it last turn (for like 70gpt) but it was a tough call.

(5)1685AD: One pollution cleared and I merge back a worker. Totally 4 workers clearing the mountain pollution in 3 turns.

I declare on Zulu. 4 cav, 2 guerilla, 2 rifle landed.

Sci lower to 80 Mass Production in 4.

Economics to Maya for WM+48g+8gpt.

IBT Two MDIs attack from Bapedi, lose and promote one rifle. Cav->rifle.

(6)1690AD: Two cavs kill two impi and both redline. :eek: We raze the city and get 3 slaves.

(7)1695AD: cav kills a Zulu MDI. There is one problem, though, the Zulu culture border is too close to the oil. So if I stop now, they may found another city immediately get the oil again. (Is it considered exploit if I sign RoP and block their way? I think kind of) Plus I find that there is iron under Bapedi too, so I'll just go ahead and capture Zimbabwe and give it to Sumeria.

IBT Mass Production->Motorized Transportation. Pollution again!

(11)1715AD: movement. Egypt has Refining. 7 turn research.

(12)1720AD: kill Zulu archer dropped next to our city. Pollution again! :mad: Plus the Zulu boat in our territory we lose 2 tiles and are starving. I start worker again. We really need more. Switch taxmen to scientist and make sure MT due in 5.

IBT Egypt offers RoP+MPP, I exchange TM instead. Worker->worker. We need at least 6 workers.

(13)1725AD: Vet cav kills pike and redlines. Looks like RNG is on our side in my turns - this has happened three times. But then 2 cav attack, both redline an impi but lose. :( Looks like those impis are tougher than pikes! 2 guerilla takes out 2 impi, but there is one redlined left. I'll take it next turn.

IBT worker->Commercial Dock. Another pollution! But it will be cleared this turn as we now have 6 workers.

(14)1730AD: We captureZim babwe. I GIVE Sumeria the city. However, this city may flip to Zulu, so I decide to raze Ulundi too. I sign RoP with Sumeria.

Egypt has both oil and coal for trade. We don't need.

(15)1735AD: kill a Zulu archer. Move workers to occupy tiles around oil. Sell Electricity to Maya for WM+60g+44gpt. He has only one step to RP which means we could buy rubber from it.

To next leader:

1. protect the oil. We can ignore the two marsh tiles as nobody can settle there (AI isn't smart enough to clear them first). Occupy all 7 dotted tiles and create a colony on the oil. We don't need the iron (the red dot), or we'd need 3 more units to protect it. Thus we need at least 7 units to do the job. Send those units there asap (we have a Galleon at home) and spare some from the front line.

This is highest priority! Soon the AI will send boats to settle there and they may land any where! Watch out! The rifileman and cav next to Zimbabwe should move to protect the oil instead of going to the front line.

EDIT: you need to build a road to connect the oil to other cities!

2. Raze Ulundi (and get some slaves). I think there will be just 1 pike + 2 impi in the city. We are not in a hurry to take it out. Be sure to do 1 first. After razing Ulundi we can make peace with Zulu and bring the oil online.

3. Maya has two rubbers. We could always gift RP to it to be able to trade for it so we can build Tanks and Infantry.

4. We have 13 turns left for IA. We'll enter Modern Ages at turn 350. So we have 190 turns left. Now whatever free tech we get, we should be able to keep researching one 2nd level tech before we gift Sumeria and Ottoman to get their first level tech. However, we may want to gift asap to get Computers first for SETI/research lab if our free tech isn't it. And we may consider a steal instead of trade for their free techs.
 
Oh well, just find out we can make peace with Zulu and get Ulundi for free. :lol:

Thus we can make peace immediately and give Ulundi to Sumeria or whatever, and all units go to protect the oil.

Unless you want to get some slaves. ;)

Next up: just do what microbe suggests regarding blocking the oil ;)

There is some weed that I've done too.

1. I pillaged too much around Bapedi. Now the oil is disconnected. We need to build road to connect it to other cities on this island to use their harbor. it should be fast, however.

2. I should probably have just razed Zimbabwe. I kept it to minimize the uncertainty of AIs founding on this island so blockade would be more predictable, but now it seems it shouldn't matter.

But I do feel good that it was right decision to have kept Zulu in the stone ages. ;)

MY apologies; I had a bit of a computer crisis these last two days and I got everything running only by today (before that, I had mouse input, keyboard input and the network adapter all give up on me :mad: ).

Ready to be slotted in again somewhere after Stuck has played (go Stuck ! :D ).
