Age of Civ Fans...

I am 33 years old, this year, and have been playing the game since CivI waaay back around 1992-93 (whilst still in Uni). I also started playing the Avalon Hill board game-Advanced Civilization-around the same time-its a VERY different experience, I can tell you, because its all set in the Ancient and Classical eras (though I believe there was a second game set during the Middle ages!)
knowing there are 40-50 year olds around here makes me feel less old-though I am shocked to learn that Meleager is only 18 y.o. He comes across sounding like he is in his mid to late-20's in his posts ;)!

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.

I'm 21. I've been playing since Civ2, can't remember what year it is but I'm guessing when I'm around 13-14 years old.

I am 32 and a half.
I have not that long a history of playing, first played CIv 1 in about 1998-99

23 myself and played civ1 and Colonization on the amiga back then, real cool :)

I'll take that as a compliment.

According to his profile, Civ Rules is 2 years younger then me. Perhaps the youngest moderator?

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of Colonization, I enjoyed that one too. I was hoping that Civ 3 would incorporate the trading system that was used in that game. No such luck. The end game was rather lame though, it was always way to easy to beat the British invaders. Not to mention I was always hitting the maximum unit limit at that point.

I am 23 and i start the civs plaing from civ2.I have at least 1 year to play any game and i expect civ4.I was bored all games but not the civ.

Interesting. Seems the avg. age in the Civ4 forum is much higher then the other forums. I thought it would be the other way around.

I'm 24 years old and I started with Sid Meier's Civilization I in 1992.

32 here! :D

I'm with Civ from the start! (should have been '91-'92??) and LOVE it! I played civ 1,2,2ToT (that kind of sucked most, IMO)3,c3c and CTP1+2.

So you see, I'm a civ-junkie in my thirties without any hope to get healed! :)

Turning 38 shortly before the release of Civ4.
Civ-addict since I first saw a game of Civ1 on an University-computer ('92 or '93).
Played Civ1,2,3 ,CtP 1,2, SMAC and Colonization.

The youngest current, yes. As for the youngest period, I don't know. SunTzu was 16 when he modded the Civ2 forums.

As for staff, he's not the youngest, Ginger_Ale is.

I'm 21 and played Civ1, 2 and 3.....but Civ 2 was Call to power....not the Civ that you guys have got here on this forum...but anyways....i'm a pretty big fan....even when i'm getting tired for the game...I always get back at it...

:bounce:

36 here, but closer to 37. First played civ I back in early 90's with a good buddy from college. Have both civ II and III, as well as Call to Power. Stopped playing civ III about 2 years ago, but just recently found the disk. Started playing again and found this site. Had to by Conquests just after reading about the stories here in the forum. Now my 6 year son is playing. He plays it after school and as soon as I get home from work, he is telling me what he did that day. We also play it at night. It is good bonding time.

I dont remember who said these two quotes but:
"I was still stuck with an Apple IIe with a green/black monochrome text monitor"

I still have my apple II GS just to play Infocom games

"I'm 40 being playing civ since it was a boardgame.."
I still play the board game every week, with expanded rules

Now, onto Me...
Im 31, Ive been playing Civ since I got a IBM with it preinstalled from a friend(didnt need the disk, or at least I was ignorant to any need)...I liked the game, but it was a hard format to play (and I prefer board games like Catan, CaC, Diplomacy, etc...) so I never really got into it...the Nintendo graced me with a cart version and easy playability, from there Ive been an addict, I got Civ III when it first came out, and Ive upgraded with every release...Not so sure about Civ IV yet...but Im gonna buy it and make my mind up afterwards...
