Age of Civ Fans...

[holding up fingers] I am this much...

...and I was introduced to Civilization I with the DOS incarnation just prior to college. Picked up Civ II one summer between semesters (a big mistake on my part). And picked up Civ III shortly before graduating college (like I said, Civ II was a mistake).

I was also aware of the old Avalon Hill Civilization board games. I preferred History of the World, though.

I'm 33, played
Civ1 in 1994
Civ2 in 1996 (then Test of Time)
Civ3 in 2001 (then PTW, Conquests)
Civ4 in 2005 :)

I also bought and 'tried' both Call to Powers, but just wasnt the same

Hi, my name is vorius. I am 25 years old and I'm .... a civoholic...

It all started with Civ1. I was a young lad at the time, very impressionable. So as my friends were passing it around on day in a dark corner of the school hidden from the prying eyes of the teachers, I knew it would come to me and they'd want me to try it. My mother always tried to teach me to just say no to games, and it seemed so easy to do while we were sitting there in the Kitchen discussing the topic. I thought I would have the will to say no and that my friends would understand. But standing there in front of my friends, all of them looking at me with those piercing gazes... with my best friend extending his hand holding the floppy disks towards me after saying "only girls don't play games!". The pressure was too great.. I caved in.. and I took the disks...

That happened to me with Star Control...curse my high school for having kick-*** 386s with Adlib cards in the labs!

23 years old here. Started playing Civ I back in mid 90's. I was just a boy then lol... Needless to say I lost the game a few times back then before getting the hang of things

I'm simply amazed by how many people got to be paid surfing this site... what kind of job you guys have???
Btw, i'm 22 and started with Civ1 with my younger brother. Man, did we build lots and lots of militias... anyway, almost never played Civ2, but a lot of CTP2 (with mods), and some Civ3 with Rhye's Mod. And to me, Civ4 look like it's going to be best so far.

It is nice to get paid to surf the internet. I for one have a public service job at a library, so when I'm not serving the public I have some free time to read stuff online.

Oh, and I've been playing civ since the original, at a friends, then at home. Played civ 2 and 3 more than I should have in college, I in fact associate certain events and albums with civ 3 because of how much I played it. I've probably spent more time playing civ in my life than doing anything else computer based at least....and who knows how far up the ladder it goes.

Edit: I forgot to mention, I'm 23. So that means I've been playing civ since I was maybe 10 or 11. Something like that.

I'm 18 and waited a whole year before taking Civ3 out of the box to see what it was like.

There should've been a warning label.

I'm 31; started playing Civ2 in 1998 when it came to the Mac. Loved it! Bought Civ3/PTW and played it for a few months, but I never really could get into it for some reason. Still enjoy Civ2 ... my wife and I have played many hotseat games over the years.

I pre-ordered Civ4; call me superficial, but the return of the Wonder movies and the physical tech tree chart, coupled with the huge graphics update, were enough to hook me.

I'm 13 now and the first time i ever played a civ game is when i was 6, i wondered why my dad had got so engulfed in a game i didn't understand, one day he had paused it to go on the phone, i started to play, even though i lost him one of his towns i had a craving for more!

:spear:

I'm in my early 30's and played since Civilization (I as it is known today ;o). I played on the Amiga version, and always thought it was funny that when you detonated a nuke, if there was a deer in the blast radius it would be turned to coal.

I've played every Civ version since then except Test of Time.

I'm 26 and and apparently a noobe since I've only been playing for about 3 years. Civ III Gold, and Conquests have been all I've know of the Civ series so far.

Whippersnappers.

28, Born in 77. Started playing Civ 1 one night in 1992. My brother and I picked it up at the store, and spent hours that night pouring over the manual, trying to figure out different aspects, blown away at the complexity of the game. Corrupted my two close friends in high school, and spent sophomore, junior, and senior years trading saved games, trading mods we had made, and so on. Civ II came out while in college - probably had a good part of me never finishing (Test of Time could've been so cool if it wasn't so buggy!) Civ III on release date, have enjoyed it all the way through, but still dislike some of the bugs (that were mostly fixed in conquests tho) - and I'm addicted to keeping up to date on all the Civ IV news until I have it in my hands when I pick up my pre-order. Just like 14 years ago, I'll be pouring over the nice thick manual in attempt to figure it all out. :)
