Age of Mythology

What are your favourite gods and units?

For God, I like Zeus and extra strong hoplites.

For units, I like the Medusa, and the laser crocodiles. Then put en masse, they can quickly dispatch most unit, killing it very fast at a distance.

Sets awesome animal converter is perfect for foraging with laborers.

And for units i love Priests and counter-infantry, you know the arrow ballista.

Any Greek god that allows centaurs. I find them pretty good for rushing. 4 of them can kill a villie with 1 shot. I also used to find Hades' Sentinel very useful to cast on the settlement nearest to the enemy. With some of your units helping to guard, it really drives the AI mad because it would keep trying to claim the settlement and losing units.

For Atlanteans, I only play Kronos for Deconstruct, chronoshift and automatons. I don't really play the other factions since they are barbaroi ;)

Automatons are beast, but best en masse. I don't use them against Norse though, since they'll just mass Hersirs and rape them.

Also, any tips for the 6th scenario (Betrayal at Sikyos) in the Titans campaign? It just seems like a another build and survive scenario...plant some walls, mass priests...done? I hate scenarios like that, so boring. I wish the editor was a bit better.

Edit: nvm, i was right. Same thing with the 7th (the egyptian titan)...for that, I built up, amassed 10 Siege and a small army of spearmen, and attacked the Gate directly. It works really well, especially if you have a priest or two to keep the Titan busy while the Siege take down the gate.

I always play as Isis. Anubis-Hathor/Nephthys if it is a Water Map-Osiris/Thoth. Very flexible, economically powerful, and impossible to successfully attack with god powers due to her monuments. :D

I wish I had Titans- I had it from a friend once, but now I can't find it anywhere.

I hate priests too. They are cheap, spammable and ranged. Ouch.

They taste good on Murmillo blades, though.

oranos, was pretty cool for the atlanteans. especially since he had that building that allowed you to transport units very quickly, and if you chose that one god which gave you the dryad tree, you were immune to enemy god powers. i also liked hades, shades were cool and he had that really bad ass archers from the fortress. isis was also very powerful imo. i didn't really play with the Norse much so they don't get a favorite god.

the norse have bad myth units.

I dunno, I like the Giants and Nidhogg. However, their Mythic Age Minor God lineup pisses me off, since Hel (who has all three giants AND the Nidhogg) is only accessible through Loki who (IMO) is the weakest Norse god. And the rest of the Mythic God Powers suck. Fimbulwinter? Really? Oh noes!!! Wolves!!! If an enemy is actually threatened by the wolves, either a) you're playing a really low level, or b) that enemy sucked anyways so it was unnecessary. Ragnarok? Crash the economy for a bunch of heroes that are destroyed by normal units. Great. Even if the enemy summons a freaking Titan, and you kill it with your Heroes of Ragnarok...now what? Woot, we killed the Titan, but were so weakened by its assault that we're easy pickings for the actual army.

Aargh.

On another note, after (checks watch) 3 years of trying to figure it out, i now know how to make good cinematics, so I can finally bring my Jason campaign to fruition. :goodjob:

thots' meteor shower was better that son of Osiris.

True, but when Son of Osiris is combined with the Two Pharoahs improvement, you can have a Son of Osiris AND two Pharoahs, who are beastly against Myth Units anyways.

I used to play around 7 years ago. Then, the "run" CD was ran over with a wheeled office chair. We never bought another copy.

So...at this link is a download link for Microsoft's The Golden Gift Campaign, which is a 4-scenario shpiel involving Brokk and Eitrei, the engimatic dwarves from the original campaign. It's actually pretty good, and due to timer nonsense and the thrill of the secrets in each map (much like the Titans campaign), it takes a few hours. Basically, Skult turns the brothers against each other, but they reunite, and in the final scenario you get to build a giant city, a giant army, and then rape Loki out of existence.

To play it, simply fire up Titans (or Vanilla, it's a Vanilla Campaign), enter Campaign -> either Titans or AOM -> hit the scroll at the top of the scenario menu -> select The Golden Gift.
