AI Civs not expanding (1AD)

bWhat Difficulty level is this game? And what map and size?

From WB you've only met 7 of the total AI.

From what I can see in BUG you have Limited Religions Exception On and in Game set up you selected Limited Religions . If an AI has yet to found a religion with that checked it may stay as 1 city Empire for sometime. There are only 3 or 4 Religions left to found. for ex: The Americans have a size 15 city and Mil units everywhere. You have Confuscian Monk sitting in their capital but because of their Civics you can't spread Confuscism there.

Of the AI you have met 4 are 1 city Empires.

In BUG also checked was Multiple Religion Spread. If Multiple Religion spread is On and so is Limited Religions Plus the Limited Rel Exceptions in BUG there could be some conflict causing the AI to be slow in expanding. Civic choices also can be a contributor to slow growth.

While having Some AI at 1 city is somewhat troubling it's not the case for Every AI in this game. The Greeks do have 5 cities and the Native Americans have 3 on this continent. And at 345AD it's till early enough in AND to have this situation show up. Next 500 years should tell more.

I haven't checked your save yet, but I've seen it happens in some games I've played for testing purposes.Which gamespeed are you using? I've seen that mostly AI starts expanding after 1AD and it will expand very quickly. I still don't know if it's a matter of balancing or if it's something buried in the code because AI started acting like this a few revisions ago. But from what I've seen it's not causing troubles to AI in any way; it just starts expanding a little later but starting with a larger capital. Anyway this is something that I'm still looking into.

Edit: ok, I've checked your save; it looks like it's something in the code because it happens with different gamespeed and settings. Will look further.

I just had this happen to me as well, but amusingly enough it seemed the AI weren't willing to upgrade their military units either. 150 turns into the game (Epic speed, normal sized Aboria map) the AI that were still around continued to use Warriors with some Javelniers thrown in. Only Barbarian-spawned cities ever had anything else: I saw plenty of archers, a single Chariot, and a few Javelins, but nothing other than warriors and the odd Javelin from the main AI's.

Almost 300 turns in, around 2500BC, I opened the world builder to see what the last remaining AI was doing, and he had a grand total of three units - two workers and a warrior. Despite that, he was researching Engineering just like I was. I immediately declared war and walked my war elephants into his city, ending the +18 relations we had and winning the game.

Not expanding until later in the game is one thing, but the AI this game never even built any metal units like Axemen or Spearmen - Not once! D:

*Edit* New game, and I saw that some of the AI civs that emerge from Barbarian cities would build new cities, still in 1800 - 1300BC years, but not the regular AI that I started with.

I never really bothered to check this by clicking retire. I just typed generally everything i observed with this new AND2.
AND: Max Unit per Tile isn't working properly tried 2-6 and after a turn. It just waits if you do not makeit something like 25-100

45o30- something ... - your name is hard to type... --- im at Normal (Speed) - Large (MAP). This one city AI isn't usual for me cause i played vanilla and AND1(4-6yrs. ago) and this thing didn't happen.

why are they building too much military units....
(dont reply "because its in a script/something like that")
why do they expand after finding a religion...
(dont reply "because its in a script/something like that")

WHHHYYYY??? =(

@VClaw,
45* 38'N is in the process of merging updates for AND .dll from Caveman2Cosmos. He's posted this several times. And has asked for patience (of which you my friend don't seem to have much). Pleas refrain from All Capital words and then dding size and color, that is really really rude.

The AND team is small and we do this as a labor of love for AND and Civ IV BtS. Don't make Demands, but instead present your problems in a detailed and civil fashion. You will more likely get positive responses if you do this.

Screenshots and savegames do help as do an explanation of how to reproduce the problem.

As for Max Unit per tile what is your Stack Limit set to in the BUG Option screen?

JosEPh :)

I set Difficulty to : Monarch

Joseph

I didn't post All caps... except the word MAP and some abbreviations.

I just highlighted/colored/sized it.

Why would i demand on something... that is free?

Don't use max units per tiles - its always been buggy and really the AI has no idea how to play like that.

The current version might have some bugs, such as AI problems. 45* 38'N is in the process of merging a whole bunch of stuff from another mod, and so over the last few weeks he has been doing this and once he has finished doing this, he will turn his attention to any of these problems.

There is no point in him trying to fix things and then the next day adding new stuff and then having to fix again, and then new stuff, and having to fix.. again and again.. Hope you understand, give it a couple more weeks or something and perhaps 45* 38'N will be happy with the merge with c2c then.
