Why can airports only trasnport one unit a turn? I know transporting military units is expensive, but at the Civ rate, the US would still be sending troops from the 101st over to Iraq.

I understand that it is harder to transport troops via Turboprop planes, but once jet aircraft come along, there are lpenty of transport options. Maybe you should be charged 1 gold for infantry, 2 gold for mechanized units per unit that is airlifted somewhere. I just htink its frustrating there is no quick way to send units overseas to a freindly port.

Well, yes and no.

Experienced players warp their troops all over the place. As you already know, If you give one of your (captured/newly created/whatever) cities away to another AI, all the troops within that city are warped back to your capitol within that turn. So an experienced player by ways of planning carefully and settling/capturing cities is able to move his Armies and SoD with an awesome speed all over his World. :borg:

I always saw 1 unit representing a group of units. Like a division. Otherwise how would 3-4 units make an army? So instead of looking at it like transporting 1 unit a turn your transporting like a whole division. Just my thoughts anyway.

I like the idea of using transport planes because it would be more in line of how you usually transport soldiers, and hopefully easier. I also think it would be easier for newbie’s to grasp it. Transporting soldiers from a city with an airport, with no airplane in sight, is a little bit too abstract.

While I wouldn't want to build transport planes for city to city, I would want to see them cosmetically for city to city transfers.

I however would like to see some long-distance field landing aircraft. Maybe some C-3s that could transport Armour and Mech Inf into the field at long distance. This would add some vitality to the helicopter if its range were increased to something useful. Imagine a fighting a war and all of a sudden a detachment of 5 MA and 5 MI appears on some mountains inside the enemy's quiet sector.

Actually, it is quite easy to do one way: on your core territory you have many airports and airfields that can hop many units to any airport on any other continent. Once you conquered your bit there it is more difficult to get away, but you can always build some airfields out of slave workers and continue hopping around.
