Ajax won in a very boring game 1-0 of Den Bosch in Den Bosch, so they're still leading the league.
Yesterday PSV won 7-6 in penalties of Feyenoord in the quearter final of the Amstel Cup: the Dutch FA Cup. FC Utrecht won 3-1 of Heerenveen and is in the semi-finals too. Ajax 1 and Ajax 2 play their quarter-finals next week.

Ajax was the better in this game, but it took the extra time to compensate for the failing Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Machlas and Ikedia scored the two goals that brought victory, the equaliser was a own goal by Victoria. Feyenoord won 5-0 and PSV 1-0 but Ajax remains 1st.

Yesterday the last two games of the quarter-finals of the Amstel Cup were played: Ajax 2 vs. Stormvogels/Telstar, Ajax 1 vs. FC Groningen.
Ajax 2 started pretty good, but the teams were equal in the first half. In the second half Telstar started better and score, but it was dismissed for offside. In the 60th min. the score was opened by Australian midfielder Jason Culina: 1-0. Within 10 minutes Ajax 2 scored the 2-0 and 3-0 by Steven Pienaar and Stephano Seedorf (a cousin of Clarence Seedorf). Ajax 2 won the game with those numbers, meaning a historical victory: never before a reserve team (youth in this case: all under 21!) made it to the semi-finals!
Ajax 1 played against FC Groningen. They started a bit weak, and almost got two goals against, but in the 18th minute it was Rafael van der Vaart with the 1-0. A few minutes later FC Groningen was given a penalty: the ref had seen Tim de Cler hit the ball away with his hand, but it really was the Groningen striker. Boussabon missed the penalty and the game went on. Wamberto scored the 2-0 in the 42nd minute after a small fight between Ajax-player Andy van der Meyde and Groningen-player Mathijssen. In the second half the failing striker Zlatan was substituted by Nikos Machlas, who scored both in the 50th and in the 53rd minute, giving Ajax a 4-0 lead. After this the game stopped to be exciting, and Ajax just played out the match.
After the game the semi-finals were drawn by Rafael van der Vaart:

In these games everything is possible. Ajax 2 and FC Utrecht are very alike, but FC Utrecht has better players who know each other much better, so FC Utrecht has most chance of winning. Ajax 1 plays PSV, which is always difficult of course, I fear the worst........but who knows.

Well Manchester United are top but Newcastle have a game in hand and are only 2 points behind. We are also out of the FA cup which is annoying but Ferguson is staying now which is great because no one else wanted to be manager...

Today Ajax beat RKC 3-1. Finally coach Ronald Koeman chose to put striker Nikos Machlas in from the start instead of the continiously failing Zlatan Ibrahimovic. In a very boring game Nikos Machlas scored the 1-0 and the 2-0. Nothin happened in this game; RKC was unable to attakc but defended well meaning no tention or what so ever. In the 80' minute a giant blunder of Bergdolmo gave Govedarica the oppurtnunity to score the 2-1, which he did. A few minutes later Bergdolmo scored the 3-1 out of a penalty though.
Feyenoord won 1-0 against FC Groningen, so they keep ahead on goals.......but they should be aware......Ajax is on its way back!!

I am visiting Amsterdam this weekend. Can you recommend tourist sights and places to eat?
Bear in mind I have my family with me so red light district is out of bounds - also I don't think I'll be able to watch Ajax if they're playing.

That were just the two things I was gonna recommend. 
About my name, it has nothing to do with the protestant-catholic thing. This Willem van Oranje who was king in England was actually Willem III, my WvO is Willem I. About Amsterdam, I can recommend/tourists like:
*Dam and Damrak (road leading to the Dam)
*Prinsegracht/Keizersgracht/Heerengracht (the typical Dutch 'grachten', you can walk them but in a boat you won't get tired)
