That were just the two things I was gonna recommend.

About my name, it has nothing to do with the protestant-catholic thing. This Willem van Oranje who was king in England was actually Willem III, my WvO is Willem I.
About Amsterdam, I can recommend/tourists like:
*Dam and Damrak (road leading to the Dam)
*Prinsegracht/Keizersgracht/Heerengracht (the typical Dutch 'grachten', you can walk them but in a boat you won't get tired)
*Begeinenhof (don't know if spelled correctly. It's near the Historical Museum and only women are allowed to live there: it was originally build for widows and unmarried women)
*Anne Frank-house (the Jewish girl, you know

Prinsegracht)
*Zaanse Schans, which is actually outside Amsterdam, but very well known.....you know, the windmills in a row.
*Beurs van Berlage (the building where February 2nd's marriage was too)
*Rijksmuseum
*Stedelijk Museum (modern art)
*Van Gogh Museum
To be honest, there are too many places to mention. I'll try to find some good links where you can check out your possibilities and decide for yourself since you know your and your family's taste the best.
