I'm giving this challenge another go (call me either stubborn or a glutton for punishment, your choice ;) ). Rather than doing a post with multiple screenshots, though, I'm limiting it to the maps, the BFCs for cities and things like possible tech trades. I'm also going to go a little slower with this one... as in, I'm going to stop more often along the way to seek advice.

This one goes from 4000 BC to 2110 BC, when I completed my first Settler.

Important details:

* Same settings as before: Fractal map, Prince level, Peter is my Civ, the others are Alex, Genghis, Monty, Huayna, Toku and Nappy.

* Settled in place as my BFC would get Corn and Gold.

* Techs researched thus far were Agriculture, Bronze Working, The Wheel (needed it to hook up the Gold), Animal Husbandry (as I found livestock in spots for future city sites) and Mysticism (for Obelisks for border pops) and now I'm researching Pottery for Granaries and Cottages.

* I've got another Pangaea, but it's one where at least a couple of Civs have been put in small peninsulas. Perfect example is Toku, my nearest neighbor. Other Civs I've encountered are Huayna (who isn't that far away), Alex (who is further way), Monty and Genghis (haven't located their lands yet, but are almost certainly soem distance from me).

* Build in Moscow went like this: Scout, Worker, Warrior, Warrior, Settler.

* Worker tasks have been to farm the Corn, then mine the Gold, then chop a Forest, then I remembered I need a Road to hook up the Gold. Once that's done, back to Forest chopping he'll go, although I'll have the Worker build Cottages whenever a Warrior goes into the queue, and save the forest chops for Settlers.

* Here's the BFC for Moscow at size 3:

* And here's the map:

So as you can see, there's Copper nearby, Stone as well, Horses aren't too far away. Lots of peaks, which means paths that military units can take are somewhat limited.

* Here's my dot map as I have drawn it up:

Orange: Moscow, obviously.
Red: Thinking this will be City No. 2... true, it will have a small gap from Moscow until culture increases, but I just can't pass up Sheep, Wheat, Copper and Stone in the BFC.
Yellow: Probably City No. 3 as I expect Toku will come that way once he gets a couple more cities founded. It gets Pigs and Fish. Only question to be answered is how to channel farms (assuming I go the SE route, which I'm debating on) as it would require farming at least one tile in Moscow's BFC to do so.
Blue: Will likely be City No. 4. Cows and Rice in the BFC, and while the Horses will be missed, later culture expansion means we'll get them as we near Cossacks.
Green: I'm thinking we'll lose that to Toku, but he may not found where the dot is. Which would mean razing and founding new cities, obviously. In the spot I marked, there's Cows, Fish and Gold in the BFC.
Purple: Not sure if this will be a definite city site or not. It gets Pigs and Clam, but will be tough to channel Farms.

* I'm thinking Fishing and Masonry should come after Pottery, then head to Writing. Iron Working isn't necessary as I will have Copper and don't have Jungle to clear. But after Writing, does it make more sense to get Alphabet or beeline to Construction? Toku founded Hinduism, meaning Kyoto is certainly the Hindu holy city, so then I'll definitely need Cats to deal with the cultural defense, which will certainly be high by the time I'm ready to rush him.

* Early plans are to get three more cities founded (including the one that will come from the Settler I just built) and churn out Axemen and Spearmen for an early rush on Toku. Get him out of the way and that takes cares of the one guy who is difficult to get to warm up to you.

* Pyramids may be pursued, but not until after the next three cities are founded (means two more Warrior/Settler combos get built, may also do Workers in Moscow as well... in fact, I think building a Worker in Moscow next is the right thing to do, so make that switch). The other cities would do Obelisks and at least two will build Barracks. Granaries will be in order, then Libraries, but the military units might get built before Libraries do.

So if I do an SE, it may be a delayed implementation of Scientist specialists while Barracks, Granaries and military are built.

So how sound is my gameplan so far, and would it be better to pursue Alphabet after Writing, or head to Construction instead?

Saved game is attached. I welcome your thoughts, and this time around, I'll be a little more careful as I progress. :p
