Hey, the game's good, but they missed a few things that would have made it great!
I mean, Civ2, I still play it, and I'm still hooked, but Civ3, well, I too often get frustratedf by the same things again and again and again...... Why didn't they take the time to get the game to 1.16f standard before release? It would have been great then! OK, some things that are in 1.21f aren't really stuff you can foresee, and they take too much playing for Firaxis to really figure them out before release, but why do i get the feeling noone at the firm every played more than his/her first game on standard map, Monarch level to the end? Why is the Modern Age relatively sucky? It wasn't tested sufficiently, and this is the big gripe here!
Give me Civ3 off the shelf as it is NOW (1.21f), and I'd maybe feel differently, but this way.... I dread MP, cause it's gonna be buggy as hell, too!
So I can understand both sides very well, those who complain, and those who don't get why some whine. Maybe some of you never experienced some of the problems, because of your choices of level, map size, civ number???? Maybe some of you think it sucks because your choices make the problems appear all the time?
I play lotsa different settings, and I think the game is '' this close to great - maybe the next patch will make it so!

And some others and I find more and more stuff in this game that's - well - strange, or at least unexpected, and some of it sucks. So, adjust you say, quite rightly, but we do get to the point where i simply adjust by playing something different, and it is because of sooo little things.....
All hail Firaxis if the next patch does the job on the few issues that remain!
