All Quiet on the Civ Front

I think this suggests that we will get natural disaster emergencies, obviously taking reference to the famous Pompeii and it's other distractions (sounds a little better than "Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Etna" but also more pronouncable then "Sid Meier's Civilization VI: Eyjafjallajokull) but I wondered if there could be another meaning for the name "Vesuvius"; of course the mountain it's self translates to "The one who lights the hearth"...

But otherwise; I wonder if we will actually get Mt Vesuvius in this expansion? I personally would prefer an "Amalfi" natural wonder with mt Vesuvius present in it (like Pulpit rock and Kjeragbolten are featured in Lysefjord)

I mean who knows whether this is a code name or not, right?, but Vesuvius is seriously just a terrible name. Beyond the Sword. Gods and Kings. Brave New World. But Vez-souv-e-us? Yeah, no thanks. Feels a bit too random.

Abbreviation would be a disaster too. Anyone want to play CivVIV? Or is is CiVVIV? Or even CIVVIV?

Vesuvius is obviously a WIP name, not a final name.

Ftr: here are whom I consider the likeliest candidates, side by side:

Æthelflæd (Warrior queen of Mercia)

Isabella of Castille (the famous Spanish monarch we all love to hate)

Eleanor of Aquitaine (Queen Consort of France, probably the best visual match)

Matilda di Canossa (Influentual countess of Tuscany)

Cersei Lannister-Baratheon (First of her name, Queen of the Andals, Rhoynar and First Men)

Yeah, that feels very much like the internal name for it, and the actual release will have a new name. As mentioned, all the other expansion names have been quite generic concepts, it would be very weird to have them name it after something so specific.

I can just hope that Vesuvius symbolises natural disasters and random events. They would be nice.

Also, 100 pages... Wow.

Gosh, it really does look like Eleanor of Aquitaine...

New Leader: Eleanor of Aquitaine (France OR England)
Civ4 had the ability to enable an option to use any leader with any civ. It allowed for some wildly overpowered combinations if you matched the right leader abilities to the right unique units and unique buildings. Like terrifyingly overpowered.

Oh my god, the dress in that pic is *exactly* the same dress.

Wouldn't be surprised if someone at Firaxis just got fed up with it and decided to leak something. In fact, if the suspicion of 2k not allowing Firaxis to interact is true, I wouldn't even be surprised if other people at Firaxis are in on it (though they'd of course never admit that).

I wouldn't be suprised too, seeing as how Firaxis employees are sworn to completely secrecy. Some of them might have wanted to finally get word out about the next expansion. Plus the reddit thread claims it'll be released on Valentines Day next year, which is only 3 and a half months away.

"Official Second Expansion Speculation Thread" coming when?

Within the next month for sure. Perhaps 1 or 2 weeks after the Switch release of Civ VI?

leaks? possibly new expansion? Oh boy , here we go again

Deep breath... I am not going to climb aboard the hype train. The seats are already taken. There’s no return ticket, I haven’t got much time to pack my bags and maybe I’m a bit tired walking to the station. I’m not absolutely sure about the destination ... Hype train, I’m coming!!

Well, we first need to assert the validity of the screencap before we draw any conclusions. I have no more doubts that the drawing depicts Eleanor of Aquitaine, however. (there are too many visual similarities to merely chalk it up to coincidence)

And then we'll need to idenify who our Polynesian friend is...
