Alpha testers needed for Steph's mod 2

@Ares: can you be more specific? I test randomly one AttackB from EW, it seems OK to me.

@T.A. Jones: I've uploaded again all the files, they seems OK (correct date and size), just in case.
Can you be more specific about your error, and give me the exact missing file, so I can check it?
 
Try the Grenzer for example, the flc crashes my graphics program every time.

Oh, and to avoid ugly sound clipping, use
ATTACK2=..\Pikeman\PikemanAttackAPunch.wav

Strange. I'm using PSP6 Animation Studio to view the flcs, and the AttackBs are the only files that won't work.

Another thing: The Civpedia pictures of the converted units look quite low-res. Do you need better ones? I've tried and made some yesterday for my own purposes, don't know if you can use them.

The important question is : does it work in game?

For the civpedia, I used as temporary image a resize first frame of the run, so of course it's low res.

It should be improved in the final version. So thanks for the offer, but I won't need picture

Ya first I should say I might have uploaded infantry for a second time before you replaced it with the new one meaning, I grabbed the broken Infantry file once again. Before I check that error, Im I suppose to redownload ever group of files or just Calvery and Infantry?

btw Im currently downloading infantry again. THis time im asssured to have the intended file

Hi Steph, I am Gustavo from Argentina... Sorry for been "disappeared" the last months, but I had a overwhelming job in moving house (still working on it)...
As I told you, I have been working on my own mod, but I would like to manage to play your new mod (as mine is greatly based on your first mod)

Another thing: I have focused on commerce, civ specific techs, civ specific buildings, and resources management more than military topics, so perhaps some ideas may be useful to you later.

No I can asure you Im good at getting any ol mod to play. Civ Complete lets you stick mods in conquests\ conquests or in the \Scen file and ether plays from Civ Content.,

ether way I tried what you suggested and stuck the file in the conquest\conquest side only to get what you wrote it should be :]Conquest\Conquests\Napoloean Europe\ text\Pediaicon.txt\Icon BLDG_Summer_Palace[/B]

I think Its your text file. Look how many versions of the pedia you have there,(mybe 4or 5in all ?) all in distict labels. Don't they have to all all be the same and in one file for it to read properly. Just a though
 
There is only one pediaicon file.

Granted, I need to clean the civilopedia, but the pediaicon should work.

If you look at the scenario properties, you'll see it looks for the pediaicons.txt which is in the

Conquest/Scenarios/Steph_History

folder first, and then in the

..\Conquests\Napoleonic Europe

folder

So I don't know why it tries to find Icon BLDG_Summer_Palace in your Napoleonic Europe folder first.

The only explanation I see is the Conquest/Scenarios/Steph_History/Text/Pediaicon.txt not being there, so it continues to the next folder.

But on my hard drive, it is included in the zip file, and I've just double checked, it is included in the zip on the website as well.

And to triple check things, if I rename Conquest/Scenarios/Steph_History/Text/Pediaicon.txt, so Civ cannot file the PediaIcon.txt file there, I get the exact same message as you.

So I'm quite sure you have an installation problem somewhere
 
I get you this mistake is happing somewhere near the top of the chain. I believe I found the mistake. Could you please tell me what the exact labeling of the two files is(file + Bic)

Heres what mine look like
BIC =Stephs History
Main file= Stephs History

You had a ( _ ) between the two words on one(can't remember which excatly)so I deleted it to match the other

DO the file and bic have to be exact in apperence to work? if so, please tell me exactly what to write for the BIC disc and file disc. THank you
 
What do you call the Main file?

The exact file name is
Steph_History.biq (not bic), and it was in the main.zip archive on the website.

The folder and the .biq don't have to have the same name, but if you delete the _ in the folder, then in the scenario properties Civ3 will not find the folder, move the the next one, which is the Napoleonic Europe.

However, on my computer the file and the folder are both named
Steph_History

And no Stephs History

I call amin file the folder not the bic. You know the one with art and text.

OK your main file and bic were the same except for the _ inbetween on one of them I will try to imidate excatly what you said thankd for the patience on the matter. btw read some text it looks like you added many new buildings IM at this moment playing STeph1 and can say that was only one of its minor flaws( not enough build options. all the same wonders etc.) I really can't wait till this is done though by pedia standards you have a lot of stuff to pen to be on par with the first one. The first one is a dream man I playing it a second time as we speak

so it was that "text file" all along :p (me kid) btw I woudn't feel bad about lack of testing if that is so, mainly cuz your beta still hasn't got up and running yet. People for the most part are lazy, if they have to work for something they think others will step up and take care of, the'd rather wait. l A complex dowload and insall process will cancel 90% of your volenters right of the bat.

Well this time Im due to give back. I'll ruin the surpise of playing through with a pedia just to get this working smooth for the others. I mean look at the effort you made to give us this Monumental mammoth. incredable!, It has the stuff to be 1 all-time for non-fiction mod players.

Going on shear scale and diversity Its only competion right now is rise n rule and Balancer Reloaded. Those two mods will be dowloaded ten years from now so your ready to earn your mark if you stick with it

I'm updating the pedia at the moment, and I'm adding some new game concept to explain some part of the design and make it easier for player to follow.

However, I think I'll make a "functionnal" pedia, with the minimum historical info.

NO NO not just small pedia! we need real size pedia support only cuz its best mod ever(quite possible its the newest n biggest so why not?), In other cases, I can't care less, but content and tech tree is very good here!its best ever so far!!!!!!:) Only good pedia justifies all the work you did so delay, delay! till its suitable for 1st class mod!(so it looks fresh out of box professional style!!(pedia contentt and quality) Your crowning acheivment would be this mod, pedia completed, and ya,taking many weeks/months just for the writing part, I understand is how long it would take!))

I can try to paste some Wikkipedia if you like!

Look how good RnR pedia was(and thats old now but imagine it never did a pedia)) that must have taking years to finish those entry discriptions. Im just concered that your mod is better then any other but will lose attention it deserves in this deptartment cause to many things were added to support properly in pedia format(unless you hold off for months to do say, a entry per week or something
Worst thing is to feel overwhelmed -You can't be burdened or else will lose interest cuz writing is boring and on that level its atrociously boring! and that sucks for us if you never release this so take things very slow and I hope people will chip in lots
 
How many people were working on RnR? How many are working on Steph's mod?

I'll do a whole pedia, I'm currently working on it. I plan to have it accurate and detailing all the gameplay.

However, I don't thave the time to write full detailed historical info for the description part.

When available, I'll simply copy and paste from other sources, but I don't have time to write new stuff.
