Funny Australia is one of the OFEC - the driest continent on Earth save Antarctica.

Australia lies in the Southern Hemisphere, which has suffered the least climatic damage from the supervolcano eruption. It has developed extensive irrigation systems and become a breadbasket for most of South East Asia.

Interesting idea..

Are you sure Falklands export that much food? Same for new Guinea?

These territories are part of Argentina and Australia, respectively, as well as many pacific islands.

I lol'd. Japan somehow takes Hainan island? My arse. ;)

China's Communist regime collapsed during the Long Winter following the eruption. Although the new Imperial government re-estabilished control, some territories were lost. Japanese, desperate as their islands could not feed their population, expanded into Philippines and South East Asia. Hainan has been taken because of its strategic value.

Your map is strange... First, you put UK in EU...
Second, UK accepted to give Falklands to Argentina...

How do you see enery in your world? The Black area is conveniently located on black oil

And while everyone in the Northern Hemisphere collapses the EU expands? Puh-leeze.

Whole world has gone through chaos, many territories changed their owner. Falklands were returned to Argentine in exchange for food supplies to Europe, for instance.

Energy has become a secondary concern, food was more important. Plus, after the collapse of Russia, the EU has got an access to cheap oil/gas (though most of it is located in the Chinese sphere). Plus, the EU now controls most of Africa and Venezuela, which also exports considerable amount of oil.

China expands too, so shut up :p

EU has simply taken the opportunity. Its large, developed (and subsidized) agriculture helped it to survive through the Long Winter and the accession of Ukraine and seizure of European Russia has provided it with enough high-quality arable land to achieve self-sufficiency again. With food and energy taken care of, Europe re-asserted itself in its former colonies, which were at risk of being taken by the Chinese or Indians. In the end, many African countries chose Europe over the hungry empires of China and India, which promised nothing but continual brutal exploitation.

Europe also lead the international effort to re-estabilish a central government in North America, which has been almost destroyed by the eruption. Europe accepted millions of American refugees (even more of them found refuge in Latin America, though Mexicans tried to stop the illegal migration from the North) and then supported the new American army formed of the US units which were stationed in Europe at the time of the eruption. Most of the US East coast is now controlled by US/EU forces. The population happily welcomes them as they re-estabilish order and ration food to the hungry masses.

Winner stole my idea! :D

In my sci-fi universe, Yellowstone erupts, causing a volcanic winter in the whole northern hemisphere. Because climate belts move south, the contries in Africa and the Middle East experience a wetter climate and a subsequent population increase, whilst southeastern Asia, largely uneffected by the eruption, also becomes a world power. The EU splits in half between the Germanic countries to the north and the Romance countries to the south. Russia was broken up in WWIII about a century beforehand into the Republic of Russia (Eastern Europe) and the Russian Federation (Siberia), whilst China has expanded to include central Asia and Indochina.

Both the middle east and east Asia later experience massive revolutions, bringing two enormous super-states, the UME (United Middle East) and the Republic of Indochina, to the forefront of world affairs. A major war breaks out between the Northern and Southern EUs, ending in a titanic orbital bombardment of the North Sea, completely destroying Britain, the low countries and southern Scandinavia, and causing global temperatures to plummet even lower. More and more countries join the UME and Indochina to escape the destructive climate changes. A second war between northern and southern Europe begins, this time started by the south in an attempt to reunite the continent, but the two superpowers intervene and conquer southern Europe before the Australian-built Excalibur Orion starship can begin bombing the north.

After hundreds of years of expansion, the two superpowers fuse with eachother, forming The Union, which later takes control of the entire world, letting the age of galactic expansion and exploration begin...

I'm going to have lunch then i'll make some maps then posts my pollish nationalism in the belguim thread.

Why would we get Kalingrad?

You're such expansionists, you know...

wouldn't Latvia get it?

Why should it? It does not even have a border with the Kaliningrad area. Unless you meant Lithuania, of course ;) (damn English)

But fine whatever, it'll help our navy. (although i'd prefere we get our true lands back (ie: Belarus Vilnuis and Western Ukraine))

Hm, how comes the people in the True Polish Lands in the East don't speak Polish at all? :mischief:
