Here we go. This is a new experiment which I don't think has been tried before(at least, I wasn't able to find an example). So I thought I'd fill the (perceived) void.

This is based off of version 1.52, no mods.

#of civs: 18
Sea Level: Medium
World Size: Huge
Map: 3 Continents(for variety of tactics including land and naval warfare)
Domination, Conquest, or Space Race victory only
Speed: Marathon

The idea here is that I will present each civ's history from their own perspective, roleplaying with the assigned personality of each leader.

The civilizations in this history, in order of their appearance

Indian Empire
Greece
Japan
Egypt
Rome
Arabia
Persia
Spain
France
China
Mongolia
Mali
Aztec
Russia
Germany
Inca
England
America

Now begins the Era of Isolation. Each civilization will soon report their initial situation, with updates as they are warranted. Not having any knowledge of the rival civs, the Era of Isolation is marked by a general lack of concern with advancement, expansion, military buildup, or much of anything other than improving their own quality of life. Discovery of the other civs, when it occurs, will spark the competitive fires.

4000 B.C. -- The great, and not-so-great, empires settle with no movement allowed for the first settler units: what they get is where they started.

INDIAN EMPIRE

Spiritual/Organized

Delhi is founded on a western coast in a dense forest.

GREECE

Philosophical/Aggressive

Athens is located just west of a forest, with an ocean inlet to the south and plains to the west.

JAPAN

Aggressive/Organized

Kyoto is founded on a southern, tropical coast.

**Screwed up the screenie for this one, but it wasn't all that compelling anyway**

EGYPT

Spiritual/Creative

Thebes, nestled on the southern coast in a temperate zone with plenty of nearby resources.

ROMANS

Expansive/Organized

Rome stands on a peninsula in the northern tundra.

ARABIA

Philosophical/Spiritual

Mecca's foundations are built on the east coast of a southern wasteland, surrounded by frigid forests and many herds of wild beasts.

PERSIA

Expansive/Creative

Persepolis, a coastal community surrounded by forests to the north and west.

SPANISH

Spiritual/Expansive

Madrid, another cold-weather community.

FRENCH

Industrious/Creative

Paris boasts an impressive variety of resources along with a comfortable climate.

CHINA

Industrious/Financial

Beijing, a promising community in a forest astride a great river with widely varying terrain nearby.

MONGOLS

Aggressive/Expansive

Karakorum, another city that enjoys great variety of surroundings.

MALINESE

Spiritual/Financial

Timbuktu, more of an arid climate, and one of the few civilizations not to begin with port access.

AZTECS

Aggressive/Spiritual

Tenochtitlan is built on a very picturesque locale, straddling a river separating two forests, plenty of hills in almost any direction.

RUSSIA

Creative/Financial

Moscow, a relatively non-descript location on a river with plenty of forests nearby.

GERMANY

Expansive/Industrious

Berlin boasts plenty of plant life nearby and water in most directions.

INCAS

Aggressive/Financial

Cuzco, the obvious beginnings of a sea-faring people on a narrow strip of tundra.

ENGLISH

Expansive/Financial

London overlooks deserts to the north and east, forests and richer plains to the south and west.

AMERICANS

Industrious/Organized

Washington, just south of the polar icecaps, is nearly cut off by water from the nearby forests.

lol, yeah good luck with that...
but it also looks like its gonna take a couple years to play.
Thats a long time aint it?

lol how do you find time to do this stuff, looks to be a good game though ***grabs some popcorn*** :king:

Glad to see that there's some interest in this. Of course it will take a long time to play, that's part of the fun(for me at least), watching an epic story play out. Not two years I don't think, but a while. And as for where I find the time ... I'm a psychotic when it comes to my strategy games and sports sims. A weakness I've no intention of getting rid of, for what its worth.

One bit of info: I won't be posting an update, barring a major event, until 3500 B.C., 25 years in, or possibly longer: I'll do em more often later in the game of course but it would be kind of silly to post something stupid every few turns basically showing the precise same screenshots as in my first few posts.

Ok, I lied. Here's a small update since something worth noting just occured. By the way, I'm doing it all on the default Noble difficulty here.

Anyway, a momentous turn of events occured roundabouts 3880 B.C. Russian scouts exploring the wilderness, such as it is, northwest of Moscow happened upon a small band of villagers who offered their services in continuing the exploration. This second group of scouts offers the Russian civilization a huge advantadge in gaining knowledge of the surrounding terrain, as well as the likelihood of earlier contact with rival civilizations and therefore an end, for them, to the Era of Isolation.

**Game note: All scouts set to auto-explore**

The Russian situation in 3880 B.C:

3860 B.C. -- Greece's lone contingent of scouts were attacked and killed by a Barbarian Lion while exploring due east of Athens. The Greeks are a relatively warlike people, and calls for vengeance were soon heard in their town councils.

3840 B.C. -- In Japan, Barbarian Lions have been seen northeast of Kyoto, threatening the safety of the city. Also the encroaching presence of a rival civilization(Russian) to the north and northwest is beginning to make itself felt.

Meanwhile in France, the growing city of Paris has assimilated a local community, from whom the French have learned the technology of Hunting.

One of the Russian scouts northwest of Moscow was attacked by a Barbarian Lion, but proved tougher than the Greeks in defeating it.

They eat workers and go through your lands, but don't attack cities.

Lion 1: Ooh, I'd love to eat those pink things over there.
Lion 2: We can't go there. See that line on the ground? It's a border. We can't cross it.
Lion 1: Damn! I'm hungry!
Lion 2: So am I.
Both stare at each other for a second. And fight to the death. Passing warrior takes credit.
