Alternate History of the World

Nice. And we'll definitely live to see this finish. The only thing I'm worried about is Zorromorph losing inspiration. :p

AZTEC

GERMANY

An interesting situation here. For the time being there's not really anything for the German scouts to do. Their only overland path, to the northeast, is blocked by mountains, which will keep them isolated for quite a while. It could also pose some problems for development though as there are really only two viable locations for potential expansion cities and neither is particularly impressive, to put it mildly. The Indian civilization lies north of the mountains, but it might as well be on the opposite site of the world.

This looks great! I've subscribed...

Question: Are you actually playing one of the countries? Or all of the countries? Or none of the countries? If you're not playing any of the countries, I'd love to know how you managed to set that up. If you're playing some of the countries, how are you role-playing? Are you choosing the builds yourself? Are you moving the units yourself? Declaring war yourself?

Basically, I'd just like to know the logistics...

wow, it will be interesting to see how these civs are handled. some of them look like very good candidates to be conquered quickly, specifically rome, inca, arabia, and persia, and others look like they may have a very hard time getting anything done, germany and egypt. the civs likely to dominate this game are probably england, china, mongolia, mali, and japan.

it will be interesting to see if anybody can overcome a poor starting position.

if the germans collected a lot of resources they could create an impregnable fortress and they probaly will have many resources by the time thier found

Wow, man, this is quite an undertaking. Good luck, I'll be reading eagerly!

I'm playing them all myself, choosing everything myself. As for how, that's still a work in progress but the role-play is based on the attributes of each civ, I used the default. For example Japan is primary Aggressive, secondary Organized. They would not have declared war on and subsequently destroyed Russia had they not had the Aggressive trait. Creative is more cultural/technology focused. Industrious focuses on production and will build more workers. Expansive will build additional cities faster, all other things being equal. Etc. The attributes also determine to an extent what technologies will be researched: Spiritual civs are more interested in the religions, Financial civs more interested in trade/resource development techs, and so on. So basically I'm role-playing a general style of play for each civ based on their traits to generate somewhat reasonable behavior.

As for a world map, most of it is still unexplored so I wouldn't be able to do that yet of course.

cool, keep us informed! :P

3420 B.C. -- Moving farther to the north, Mongol scouts discovered another civilization, in this case the American capital of Washington. This is first contact for the Americans.

I've played this way since Civ 3. I remember a thread a while back where someone else was basically made fun of for playing this way. I think it's fun! While playing 'role-playing' Civ, I find it useful to keep an Excel spreadsheet to track stuff. I also use the random number generator in Excel to make decision I can't be completely fair about. It's kind of like rolling dice to decide an outcome. :crazyeye:

I think you should kill off some more civs...
"the only archer defending Rome decides to go exploring right before TWO AMERICAN WARRIORS appear on the horizon!"

LOL. Two problems with that. Rome doesn't have any archers inasmuch as no civ so much as knows Archery yet. That's bullet #1.

Bullet #2: If I really wanted to I could probably end the game by killing off another 16 civs in the next couple hundred years. But honestly, what fun would that be?

it would be fun for the land that survived

It would not go with the objective of the game, to roleplay the civs like they are, romans would not send their only defece to scout, americans would not attack a civ if they don't need their resources (hmmmm... i see no oil)

were kidding notice the smilys with tounge out
