OK I guess you're all fed up of this messing around, assuming that you're still interested at all. I haven't had much time today but I've made another map / mini-update thing. This one shows the main alliances at the outbreak of TEH WROLD WAR, and also the major campaigns.
The colours on the map correspond to the following:
DARK BLUE = Countries that have publicly announced their neutrality in recent conflicts, at least for now...
CYAN/AQUA/TEAL = The Furotocas, the Tezan Empire, the Xanto/Panto, and friends. Or at least most of them, since some have declared neutrality. (this alliance needs a suitable name)
BRIGHT RED = The Aarut-Varakan alliance and their allies involved in the immediate fighting. (this alliance also needs a name)
BRIGHT GREEN = the Triple Alliance of Tiandishi, Yanshi and Huiyan, as well as their dependent territories.
DARK RED = Theoretical allies of the Aarut and Varaka, but ones not yet directly involved against the Furotocas.
DARK YELLOW = Countries with an ambiguous stance towards the main alliances, since they probably have several enemies, or have internal divisions which prevent them from joining any major alliances.

I need to get up early tomorrow for some christmas shopping (such fun
) so I've run out of time to explain exactly what's going on. The main thing is that the Varakans have crossed the unfinished Yansalan (Suez) canal with large numbers of tanks (roughly equivalent to early ww2 light tanks, most of them are fast but not heavily armed), and air battles have been raging over [Lebanon] and [Georgia]. The Furotocans have sent reinforcements to Tezan, including some of their best forces. Aarut have sparked another civil war in Nemarthia and have gained control of the straights of Gibraltar. The Argine Union has joined on the urging of Aarut, but still seems fairly weak and hasn't been able to mobilise enough force to seriously threaten the northern frontier of the United Furotoca.
Basically its started as a Varakan-Aarut attack on Furotocas and Tezan (only brought together by mutual dislike and fear of the Varakans). The Aarut justification is that Furotocans have been helping the Panto cause in north America and sowing the seeds of further disorder in northern and central Europe. The Varakans justified it by claiming Tezanians were aiding unrest and terrorism in the middle east.
The Takaraji/ Japanese have not officially joined the war against the Furotocas or Tezan, but are attacking the Xanto.
The Triple Alliance is not officially at war with anyone yet either. They continue to fight a colonial war with the Takaraji, now focused on the southern [Philipines], but the war has not spread to mainland Asia or [Japan] yet. The Triple Alliance have declared moral support for the Furotocans, Tezan and Xanto/Panto.

OKIES, If people would like to have some say in how the war progresses, feel free to post anything - maybe like what fronts should be prioritised, or what kinds of weapons/tactics you hope to use, or diplomatic actions etc etc. If this is popular then more mini-updates can follow. I know there isn't much to go on yet, but I will attempt to add more details tomorrow.
OR, I can finally get on with the proper update and decide most things for myself…
OR, another idea is to have the next update only go through the build-up to war and halfway through the war itself, so you'd still have a chance to have some say in how your countries fight (or remain neutral) during the final half of the war, and objectives for the post-war era etc.
Hmm, so yeah, um. Any opinions are welcome
