Alternate Timeline Building Experiment, v1.0

OK I guess you're all fed up of this messing around, assuming that you're still interested at all. I haven't had much time today but I've made another map / mini-update thing. This one shows the main alliances at the outbreak of TEH WROLD WAR, and also the major campaigns.

Spoiler :

Earth-Blank-Northern-D2-age18ww.png

The colours on the map correspond to the following:

DARK BLUE = Countries that have publicly announced their neutrality in recent conflicts, at least for now...

CYAN/AQUA/TEAL = The Furotocas, the Tezan Empire, the Xanto/Panto, and friends. Or at least most of them, since some have declared neutrality. (this alliance needs a suitable name)

BRIGHT RED = The Aarut-Varakan alliance and their allies involved in the immediate fighting. (this alliance also needs a name)

BRIGHT GREEN = the Triple Alliance of Tiandishi, Yanshi and Huiyan, as well as their dependent territories.

DARK RED = Theoretical allies of the Aarut and Varaka, but ones not yet directly involved against the Furotocas.

DARK YELLOW = Countries with an ambiguous stance towards the main alliances, since they probably have several enemies, or have internal divisions which prevent them from joining any major alliances.

I need to get up early tomorrow for some christmas shopping (such fun :( ) so I've run out of time to explain exactly what's going on. The main thing is that the Varakans have crossed the unfinished Yansalan (Suez) canal with large numbers of tanks (roughly equivalent to early ww2 light tanks, most of them are fast but not heavily armed), and air battles have been raging over [Lebanon] and [Georgia]. The Furotocans have sent reinforcements to Tezan, including some of their best forces. Aarut have sparked another civil war in Nemarthia and have gained control of the straights of Gibraltar. The Argine Union has joined on the urging of Aarut, but still seems fairly weak and hasn't been able to mobilise enough force to seriously threaten the northern frontier of the United Furotoca.

Basically its started as a Varakan-Aarut attack on Furotocas and Tezan (only brought together by mutual dislike and fear of the Varakans). The Aarut justification is that Furotocans have been helping the Panto cause in north America and sowing the seeds of further disorder in northern and central Europe. The Varakans justified it by claiming Tezanians were aiding unrest and terrorism in the middle east.

The Takaraji/ Japanese have not officially joined the war against the Furotocas or Tezan, but are attacking the Xanto.

The Triple Alliance is not officially at war with anyone yet either. They continue to fight a colonial war with the Takaraji, now focused on the southern [Philipines], but the war has not spread to mainland Asia or [Japan] yet. The Triple Alliance have declared moral support for the Furotocans, Tezan and Xanto/Panto.

OKIES, If people would like to have some say in how the war progresses, feel free to post anything - maybe like what fronts should be prioritised, or what kinds of weapons/tactics you hope to use, or diplomatic actions etc etc. If this is popular then more mini-updates can follow. I know there isn't much to go on yet, but I will attempt to add more details tomorrow.

OR, I can finally get on with the proper update and decide most things for myself…

OR, another idea is to have the next update only go through the build-up to war and halfway through the war itself, so you'd still have a chance to have some say in how your countries fight (or remain neutral) during the final half of the war, and objectives for the post-war era etc.

Hmm, so yeah, um. Any opinions are welcome :salute:

cool DaftPanzer i like the map and hope you get down to the update

The Holy Shyin Empire supports the Varakan Empire, and encourages the followers of the Shyinist faith to support it. It will especially be wanting to get its old land back. with Varakan supplies and possibly help, the Holy Shyin Empire will try to take its land back, as well as possibly take even more for itself.

The Grajaj Alliance will continue to push east, using guerrilla warfare to drag out the war. Krashenists will hopefully help us and fight the enemy from the inside, causing confusion and paranoia. Agressive tactics against the Varakan Empire will mostly cease, although Krashenists still in the Varakan Empire may still cause them problems.

The Kalik troops of United Furotoca will be extremely agressive, wanting to quickly blitz through the Argine Union. The old Kalik culture will be used as propoganda amongst the troops, encouraging bravery and selfless sacrifice in the name of glory and victory.

I would like some say in how the war happens. These mini-updates are pretty good stuff.

Although, I'm a little worried about how small the Triple Alliance looks compared to the Aarut-Varakan Alliance.

---War Orders for Xanto/Panto Military Forces---
PRIORITY 1:
Focus a majority of our resources on the Western campaign. Bombard enemy positions with high-flying bombers then mop up with a wave of infantry spearheaded by tanks. Try to spare the local infrastructure, esp. deep water ports on the Pacific

PRIORITY 2:
Use remaining mechanized forces to defend the border with New Aarut. Maintain support for the Panto guerrilla capaign. Use Panto nationalists to sabotage Aarut war factories, roads/railroads, and other easy targets. Run low-altitude air raids along the borders picking off infantry/tanks/other ground forces hit-and-run style.

---Diplomacy---
The Lantan High priest urges the Lantalmac (who are of Xanto descent, IIRC) to join the fight against the Suraji and Aarut and calls upon all other native people to rise up against the foreign suppressors.

The Xanto will make overtures to the Triple Alliance appealing for aid, either an overt alliance, or just supplies, against our mutual Suraji enemies/rivals.

---Other---
War material production will focus on aircraft and establishing air supremacy over North America.

im going to make the assumption that the Rayulat are at least at the industrial ages if im wrong ignore these battle orders

The Rayulat are to crash into the flanks of the enemy then crash into them from the front with a tank column. Continue to bombard the enemy with artillary

the Latlan are to continue the spread of their culture

Start a propaganda add among the citizens of Rayulat and the people of North Timuria

the Hulat are to begin a mass production of aircraft and naval units they are trying to take control of the medditeranean seas the Hulat are going to start a pirate program

Zanac: Chooses to side with Furotocan/Tezan/Panto Alliance, but focus is on the conflict to the north and east. Sends envoys to encourage Suraj colonies (appears unlikely) to the north and to Matac to choose same side and to provide a unified front against the eastern side of the continent.

Matac: Agrees to unified western south american continent only if Suraj colonies agree to join (appears unlikely). If they do Matac puts more pressure on its eastern front to push down river and split land/air contact between northern and southern South America. Should Suraj colonies not agree to unified western continent (seems likely), then Matac will seek asistance from Aarut/Varakan alliance nations to push through Zamarac and farther down river.

Amasa: Continues support for Aarut and whips up popular sentiment for the war at hand against Zanac and thus against Furotocan/Tezan/Panto Alliance

Colmassa: Chooses to remain neutral, but if attacked, will side with the enemy of their attacker.

Thanks!

However, I think two things are needed for this world-war mini-game to work:

A, some basic military and industrial stats for each nation, so you know what you have to work with

B, more participation, especially from Luckymoose and Lord_Iggy, who both seem to be busy with other real-life things. At this rate I will either NPC most of the fighting anyway, or it will take a LONG time to work through.

So I'm leaning towards this idea: (apologies ina dvance)

another idea is to have the next update only go through the build-up to war and halfway through the war itself, so you'd still have a chance to have some say in how your countries fight (or remain neutral) during the final half of the war, and objectives for the post-war era etc.

IE, stopping all this messing around and just doing eras/updates as normal, with me using your input to decide many things over a large period of time. Although, the next era will take us deep into the war but not right to the end, thus allowing people a say in how their countries fight and try to end the war one way or another, as part of the usual input/orders for the next era. Everything people have posted so far will still go into the proper update and won't be ignored!

Would people be happy enough with that?

Based on my reading of Daft's previous NESes/projects and the loads of fun that NEB1 has been, is, and turning out to be, I'm annoucing my intentions to join this experiment.:D(What's with the christmas hats:confused:)

I've not really followed this unforunately, so can anyone suggest a perferably Europe and nation with a minor role in this WW.
Edit: The Agrine empire looks like a good choice, but all I saw in the open positions was cultures, can someone explain this?

Build up along Nadzavosk, with strong mobile armored columns, with a special focus on anti-armored weapons mounted on them, couple them with trucks and mounted infantry equipped with yet more ubiquitous anti-Armour weapons preferably man portable. Because the area we will be fighting over is so large... use cavalry as well armed with anti-Armour man portable weapons to. Hold back till either the Varakans are winning or are retreating and the Nadzavosk are advancing then declare war and make a beeline to cut them off in the Caucasus's from their supplies advance on cities at leisure. Use nationalist partisans/militia/irregulars to stamp out opposition... nastily.

I think I have the most splintered culture. My culture is part of the greatest democratic nation in the world, it's part of a communist movement, and its the leader of a holy empire. And of course the Litarotangs are probably moving through southeast Asia, spreading their ideals too.

My is only slightly better than yours. Two main branches, an Asian Liberan Democracies and a single mongo(Tazan:rolleyes: whatever)-times Republic on Arabia striking oil.

A republic and a democracy aren't drastically different from one another. I have a theocracy, a communist nation, and a democratic nation influenced by my culture. Those are three very different forms of government.

They are also fairly spread out, reaching from Itally, to China, to India.

Conservative (corrupt, with dynasties) Republic in ARABIA. Liberal and warlike in korea, and Consumerism Alliance of small city republics in China. (Or did I reform it into a Progessionist Republic yet?)

OK I'm now working on a proper update, but one last question remains - would the Triple Alliance (Tiandishi-Yanshi-Huiyan) want to start a war against Varaka and the [Japanese], assuming the preoccupied Varakans dont start one first? I have ideas about how this will go, but the concerned players are free to post their own ideas :)

@Matt0088, as Lord_Iggy said this not-a-nes/experiment/thing has been following cultures throughout time, they are the only permanent things while countries change and rise and fall etc. Its kinda confusing, especially for me :)

Anyway you could if you want take the Tuzan culture and just control the Argine Union, ignoring the other countries it has influence over, I'd be glad for any more input.

for potential reference said:
Tuzan culture - has been spread from the steppes into western Europe by the epic invasions of the past. Although largely assimilated into other cultures, its core values remain, especially the belief in a great apocalypse and age of terror which will come from the east.
Major influence: Keyzad of Nadzavosk-Savisia, Argine Union
Lesser influence: Sezvyr Covenant, Republic of Nemarthia

@Charles Li, I think Ninja Dude wins this argument :) Its also worth mentioning that Lord_Iggy's Sarvonian culture has spread around alot too (democracies western asia, theocracies in north africa), mythmonster2's is all over the Indian ocean and western pacific and Bestshot9's Washagon culture is all across the northern hemisphere.

I don't want to start a war, heavens no. Other than the "gentleman's colonial war." Of course, the evil [Japanese] have already broken that. So we might have to do equal retaliation.

I'll take your suggestion Daft and take over the Tuzan culture and just control the Argine Union. That said my plans for TEH WORLD WAR:
- Shift most troops to eastern front against United Furotaca.
- Try to conscript more troops, stating that this World War is the great apocalypse and age of terror which will come from the east. Specifically try to greatly enlarge the air force and armored percentage of military, even if this means neglecting the navy.
- With what troops that weren't shifted to the eastern front, have them consentrate on using the strategically superior position against Furotaca of Cheguia to knock them out of the war.
- On the eastern front, have our forces put up a strong resistance against United Furotaca initially, but then have them retreat slowly west. But the whole time have a large amount of armored divisions north and slighty west of the Ustri Kingdom be silent, but as soon as my troops retreat pass them and the Furotaca advances past them west, have them blitz south to the coast with large air support and cut off and surround Furotaca's forces. Then have my retreating forces counterattack and slaughter the surrounded Furotacians.
- Throughout the entire eastern front, try to use the enlarged air force to gain complete air domaince. Then have them wreck any Furotaca operation through our control of the air.
