AM5- We Rule The Seas! (And all islands in between)

Hmmmmm... is it a good idea to like declare war on Germany when we have enough sea forces and when they come with thier transports of archers and swordsmen we can bury them at sea. Then we strike back by loading our units in the emaining galleys and attack them with whatever they have left.

Yes, we will loose our Colony over there, but they will loose most of thier military to our Galleys and thier colony in our island. Why not? Our counter-attack force can do nothing but attack a city in the tip, more like the remaining Celt cities and just use that as a base while we pillage most of thier terrain. Why not??

I have a question before I play this one. I looked at the map and I am confused as to why we are building the FP in hastenings. It would be much better placed in Canterbury where it has cites on almost all sides not Hastening where it was almost all oceasn on one side.

I can leave it if that is the choice or I can swap it to a Coloseum an donly lose 20 shields at this point.

What do we want?

I can not post a shot now but Hastenings is on the upper edge of our island with nearly 50% of its tiles being water.

290 AD (Pre-turn)
Lincoln get 584g and WM for Monarchy. The Ottamans get Monarchy for Construction, WM, and 23g. Arabia get Monarcy for Literature, 30g and WM. They also get construction for 8gpt, which they came up with after refusing to do gpt for Monarchy. India has Republic but refuses to sell it for anything even two techs and 1100g. Too bad, we only have 19 turns left on research for it. I swap Hastings to a Colosseum and will restart the FP in Canterbury next turn. It is a much better site for it. I don't see anything we are pre-building for so after much puzzling I move on. No one seemed to answer the query.
(I) The Germans declare war on us and burn Reading to the ground. It doesn't look good for the other city over there either. This is what happens when you have agressive neighbors and you leave your cities without any troops in them. Colosseum in Hastings built and they start a barracks. Canterbury builds a settler and starts the FP. Brighton builds a warrior and starts another. Two civs have made the middle ages (discovered currancy) and we get a massive uprising at the barb camp no one bothered to take care of.

300 Bc (1)
Not much to do, pull the boat with the settler back from the German island. Put the scout in Leeds and swap it to a spear from a settler.
(I) Londons finishes a barracks and starts a horseman. Nottingham completes a harbor and begins a horseman. Leeds completes its spear and start another which it will never complete. There are now eight Barb horsemen at thenorth western pennisula.

310 AD (2)
Not much.
(I) York completes its spearman and starts a temple. There are ten German horses and two archers outside of leeds.

320 AD (3)
Shuffle some troops, trying to cover all cities.
(I) Leeds is histroy. The barbs in the north lose twice before taking out the warrior and then sack the city 6 times.

330 AD (4)
Shuffle troops to get York covered and growing again.
(I) Nottingham builds a horseman and start another.

340 AD (5)
Get Birmingham covered with a spear and we only have one bare city left.
(I) London and Newcastle complete horsemen and start more.

350 AD (6)
The horse from Newcatle heads north to the barb camp the one from London heads east.
(I) Nada.

360 AD (7)
Continued movement.
(I) German galleys appear off the coast. Hastings completes a barracks and starts a horseman.

370 BC (8)
Movement
(I)German galley moving towards city without spear.

380 BC (9)
Nada.
(I)German galley joined by second one.

390 AD (10)
Not having the troops to hold off an invasion a sue for peace and get it for 300g.

We need to build up our defenses and military. This will help with the lux taxe as well. We should be able to switch to republic soon.

The game

have we revolted yet?

This means that germany now has iron. Which also means the going is now a lot tougher. Lets build our galley force, and around 15 attack units, Set up a landing fort with super defence, and kill, kill, kill!

look around:
only change Dover to temple...do not think Nottingham will complete GL in 30 Turns...upgrade 4 warriors to swords for 160g...drop Lux 10% and get rid of clowns

400AD-1 London horseman-->aqueduct

410AD-2 Map trading brings in 49g

420AD-3 Did not check for growth and Canterbury riots...finally end barb threat to our home. 4 for upgrades for 160g...get Currency from Ghandi for 10GPT+71g..scientist moves to Canterbury

Korea builds the Hanging Gardens

430AD-4 Hastings horseman-->marketplace Warwick granary-->marketplace

440AD-5 Newcastle horseman-->marketplace Richmond founded in frozen north and starts Spearman.. Upgrade another warrior Maps bring in 18g

450AD-6 Build Exeter on northern Tip....lose galley in sea.

460AD-7 not much

470AD-8 Upgrade 2 more warriors

480AD-9 Republic arrives and I revolt and the workd goes mad but we are still pulling in 2GPT
maps net us 26g

490AD-10 One warrior ready to upgrade but now losing 10GPT in Anarchy. We are up REpublic and Currency on Abu Bakr, even with Genhis Khan, and down Monotheism and Engeneering to the others but China is only up Monotheism. Never coud get enough to get a 2fer since I was upgrading our army. Speaking of which, we are average vs India, Korea, and America and strong vs Egypt.

Hey, I am here. I was on a trip out of town on rather short notice. Just put me back in at my regular spot in the rotation, as I need a little time to get settled back into things. Thanks.

OK guys. It has been 2 weeks since I played and no one has picked it up. This game has now been bumped off the first forum page. We can turn this into an open SG if some one else will just pick it up.
