I'm sorry Atlantic and people, but I'm vetoing your last two stories. We will not see a return to segregation; that is one very major alternate history thing that will stay permanent and will not have a clever way of being rewritten in. You can be assured that after half a century of the first female president, Eugene V. Debs, the Communist Party (very anti-racist), and four years of the Progressive Party, that there is no longer any substantial racism. Future presidential candidates will not run on this plank, and future huge events (such as Martin Luther King Jr.) will not be a part of this timeline. I might have Martin Luther King Jr. be in the story, but not for what he is famous for.
Story will be up either tomorrow morning, or Saturday.
Caterpillar King is right. Trotskyists are not seen different from Browderists because the only Trotskyist nation of any prominence was Japan, that soon became fascist and killed a million Americans in their invasion. Saying you're a Browderist will probably get you beat up and the police will come to question you. Saying you're a Trotskyist will get you beat up, the police will detain you and then they will let you go after verifying your records. Nothing legislative, just cultural. Things are improving though, from the Progressive presidents.
