I don't know what you were thinking when you wrote the above. I don't think I should need to point out that the English and Americans also have the same language and religion.

I admit my post may have been a little confusing.

I would like to point out that England and America do not have the same religion. A good number of English that came to the colonies left so that they could enjoy religious freedom.

Greek speaking peoples founded the Greek city states. But England did NOT found America. They founded only a portion of what is now America.

America, despite her youth, has contrubited as many "Cultural" achievements as other civilizations.

Just because of her ties with England does not make them one.

Just because they are "thick as thieves since the Great War" does not make them one.

If a Londoner and New Yorker came up to you, could you tell the difference?
What about someone from Sparta and another from Athens?

That does not really make any point but England and America are more diverse than Sparta and Greece.

Perhaps I carried the analysis to far :)

In response to Sealman's last post

Both are Christian and both are mostly protestant, that's what I meant.

Many Greek states expanded after they were founded, like Syracuse, which actually managed conquer many of the non-Greek Sicels.

America has contributed as much as other civs in its own right, but so did the Athenians.

You're right, on their own they do not make them one. But there are more things which I have already mentioned. Plus in the context of a game which spans 60 centuries and only has 16 civs, the English and Americans really should be classed together.

I will never hear an ancient Greek speak, but Greeks could certainly tell the difference. I don't think the average Arab who speaks no English could tell the difference between a Londoner's speech and a New Yorker's. Also, it is very easy, even for the beginner, to tell the difference between Attic and Doric prose, as I know from my own experience.
