America's greatest ally

Britian at the moment, but they won't be when the Second Cold War between us and Europe comes around. Then again, it may never happen, assuming that my country stops its Imperial actions.

Actually -
I wish the UK could ditch the US and spend it's money on regenerating our deprived urban areas -

Instead of pointless American ego-wars.[/QUOTE]---

Good point Curt, and to add further I wish Scotland would ditch England and we could start sorting out the mess this countries in at the Mo.

And as quoted by many what does Israel bring/provide that makes it such a useful ally??

Absolutely nothing. In fact it is the other way around. The US is Israels' greatest ally and provides it with everything it needs to stay alive.

Anyway the way things are shaping up in the world the US won't be a superpower much longer.

Canada. We are the only ones allowed inside the inner circle of the American aircraft carrier battle group. Someone in the Pentagon must really trust us.

Note: we are not the most powerful ally, but certainly the best friend of America.

(being a good ally also means trying to stop a country from bumbling into stupid wars)

Besides, we are practically joined at the hip economically.

Israel provides a good trade partner, a good anti-terror partner, and a helpful ally in the UN (whenever possible).

Hey, without Israel, America wouldn't have many of the military innovations it requires to keep its global edge.

Australians are recruited by the USN. I've met a few including one guy who crewed on a carrier. I think thats being going on since vietnam or perhaps even earlier.

Thats probably because none of our ships have guns that could ever damage them if we went bad anyway. ;)

I don't think the Isaelis are our best allies. Like when we found out that Israelis had spys and were selling secrets to other countries or when the IDF attacked that American ship the U.S.S. Liberty.

actually we wish you would just attack one of them so we would have an excuse to take the land that should have been ours. Just look at it Canada is like a missing puzzle piece in the US empire.

i tend to go with Canada because we do sort of have most of are nukes up there so we have to be good allies and yet we have alot of bases in England so toss up

I'd say the UK. As for Isreal, they're probably more of a burden. That said, we're Isreal's best allie so it's kind of our reasponsibility to make sure the countries arounnd it don't destroy it.

Maybe it depends on which American you ask.

If you're George Bush or Rush Limbaugh it would be the UK, or if you're Michael Moore or Ralph Nader it would be Canada.

Or, if you look at the point of view of "we never would exist today if it weren't for..." then America's best friend is France.

Oh give me a break. No matter how much you hate the United States, we aren't imperialistic. Get over it. Likewise we aren't going to go into a cold war with the Europeans, why you would think that is beyond me.

As for our greatest allies, i'd list (in no particular order)

U.K.

Canada

Australia

Maybe Poland

South Korea and Japan have been pretty helpful and cooperative too, but only because they both depend on us for protection from China and North Korea.

If military support is the primary consideration, probably the UK.

As soon as trade is involved, it undoubtably becomes Canada. And we are allowed in carrier battle groups, as Sobieski mentioned.

Goes where the US points? The "Eastern European Heralds" -- Bulgaria, Romania and Poland --, followed by the UK. (The rest of the British Commonwealth follows the UK, not the US, and so aren't our minions directly.)

Makes a good show of agreeing with the US? Saudi Arabia and Israel.

Is an actual ally of the US? South Korea.
