What determines how long Anarchy lasts? Is there a base number of turns for it?

There is also the little trick you can use when you invent a new government type.
Although I am not sure it still works.
Once you invent the new government go to What's the big picture and from that screen go to the domestic advisor. Have a revolution start and check the estimated anarchy period. Then move back to science advisor, pick next tech and close screen. Computer will automatically ask whether you want a revolution, check the estimated anarchy period there and go for revolution if it's lower than the one you saw before, otherwise don't revolt. Since you are already revolting...
Your advisor on the F1 screen will tell you how long anarchy will last. Of course you must be in anarchy to get this information, there is no way to know it before revolting.Originally posted by homeyg
I don't understand what you mean. There is nothing that tells you how long the anarchy is going to last, thats why I asked the question in the first place.
I am not sure what would be the minimum turns of arnarchy for non religious civ. But I remember having got 2 turns playing OCC with Greek.Originally posted by mad-bax
I believe that anarchy can last a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 turns for a non-religious civ. The probability of drawing terms at the upper end of the scale increases with difficulty.
Religious civs always get 1 turn of anarchy.
You can get two shots of the RNG which determines how many turns of anarchy you get using the method described by Lopex.
Just have to follow info from LOPEX:Originally posted by SesnOfWthr
Alright, maybe I'm thick but I still don't really understand what you're saying about checking the advisor twice. i mean, I understand that it gives you the option to revolt twice in one turn, but I don't see how you can pick and choose which one you want. I mean, the only way to see the number of turns is AFTER you revolt right? So let's say the first revolt is 4 turns and the second one 7 -- how do I check that AND still keep the 4 turn revolt?
Hopefully someone can clear this up for me.
