Amra & CIV Gold New Civ Library

TSK TSK TSK. As I am working on your civ's amra I am noticing that they are not capatible for any other languages. Going to have to break you of this habit.
your Aesir civ is done and can now be found in the repository if you want to get a look at it. It has been recreated with TXT KEY entries (this is taking a LOOOONG Time because of those txt files). Going to have to delay on the rest of the civs as Civ Gold has me going yet again.

:confused: Huh? I have TXT KEY's for all languages included in each civ as in the example below.
Code:
    <TEXT>
        <Tag>TXT_KEY_CIV_AESIR_DESC</Tag>
        <English>Aesir Empire</English>
        <French>Aesir Empire</French>
        <German>Aesir Empire</German>
        <Italian>Aesir Empire</Italian>
        <Spanish>Aesir Empire</Spanish>
    </TEXT>
I only speak English, however, and have not translated any of the entries. I will not be doing that so if anyone else wants to, then they are more than welcome to.

Now, I have always been the first to admit that I am not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination so if this is not what you are talking about then please give me more info on what you mean by them not being "capatible for any other languages". Am I missing something in the XML?

I know that I don't have the Japanese, Russian, etc tags but neither does Firaxis on a lot of TXT keys. Perhaps that is what you are talking about.

@Impaler
I agree with purplexus about not moving this library to the PNP forum. I think this is where it should be since they are just standalone civs and not plug and play civs. However, if purplexus (or anyone else) wants to turn these into PNP civs then that is okay.

Yes Amra... everything else is correctly programmed... Just missing the TXT KEY on the Cities and the Unique Names for unique units. That's a lot of work to do those. Trust me I'm not saying I don't appreciate the work you do. I love the work you do. Thank you so much.

Thanks for clarifying. I had forgotten about the cities and Unique names. I think you'll find that only the Aesir & the Pirates have any extra unique names added.

As far as the cities go, I guess I never anticipated the plug and play aspect of any new civs so I will make every effort going forward to change that. I appreciate you pointing that out to me. I'm still learning everyday.

:hide: ... Sneaks off to hide in corner.

Amra.. You'll have to forgive me on this one... but I got to delay you as the Civ Gold release is ramping up as you know... and that must become priority... I promise to get your civ's done as soon as I got Civ Gold done.

We'll need a bunch of those for our release in any case. :D

okay Amra's civ's are coming then... Will have to make 2 in one since his civ's have 2 UU
All civs listed in this library only have one UU with the exception of the Aesir & the Pirates. Their second UU is only a Great General replacement with no extra abilities and of course the Pirates have all the extra EDUnits.

Only in my modpack do my civs have 2 UU's

Amra or Aranor... If you would like to Continue the Modular Pattern of Civ's in the future and would like to Write to the Repository yourselves... contact Impaler[Wrg] he is the one who is the admin on the repository. All can download from it without permission

I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the single-civilisations library besides Civ Gold. Please keep it up. I am one of those who only seek their favourite Civ without downloading all the masses that exist.

Unfortunately I still miss good Native American leaderheads. Most look like clowns and I even consider it derogatory. Unfortunately I don't know how to do it myself, since I only find a file called eye_shadow in the leaderhead directory, however, the Shawnee civ3 mod

shows that it is possible. Rather I like still images like in Wyz First peoples mod than clowns like the Civ 4 Sioux-Leaderhead for Sitting Bull

In the near future, all the individual civs from Gold will be modular - i.e. able to loaded separately.

CIV3 is different, though. It was much easier to create custom leaderheads in 3 than in 4. The file types are considerably different, and what is possible in 3.0 cannot be easily done in 4.0. With all due respect, I still find that most new leaderheads in 3 all look alike - only a few base models with lots of modifications.

I went with pic leaderheads for some of my mods - First Peoples, Out of Africa, etc. - but the community consensus seemed to be that static pics detracted from the flow of the game, hence the use of reskinned 4.0 leaderheads.

Certainly the intent was not to make them look like "clowns". All respect was given when creating those, just as when creating any LH.

Unfortunately, BTS only provides one Native American model to work with, and Gold will have 10 first peoples civs (obviously you can only do so much with one LH). So you will probably not like the fact that some of the Gold models will not change. (4.0 adds a lot of native empires, so the leaders may not look as you hope)

However, if you have any suggestions to provide - better base model recommendations, recommendations on accessories/colours, etc. Please visit the Gold forum and post them in the North America section and I will gladly look at them.

Just one question, how do you extract the 7z files? Do you ned a BitTorrent program or somthing like that?

Well fortunately since Colonization came out there will be more Native American/First People leaderheads to work from (or to even use).
