An Atomic Bomb problem

Hello everyone!

I'm having a strange problem when I'm trying to use the Atomic Bomb in Civ V. According to the game manual and forums the A-Bomb should have a range of 10 hexes to any direction and no penalties from terrain, visibility etc. However, when I'm trying to launch the unit from a city, it might give me a range of 10 to some directions, but to other directions the range might be less than 3 hexes.

For example if you check the screenshot attached you can see that I can't attack Gordium from Akwesasme even though an A-Bomb against Akwesasme was launched from Gordium.

Thanks for help!

The city cannot be in a shaded area. And according to your thumbnail, it may be. Every once in a while I get that weird red outline. You may have to close the game and reload the game and then the save. It is a graphics glitch, since there should be a perfect ten hex circle not the strange-shaped red line you are seeing.

If it persist, then you may need to verify the local files in steam, until it says "all files successfully varified".

Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to solve the problem. I've tried to save/load and close the game, I have verified the local files and I have even re-installed the whole game, but the weird bombing radius stays.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Did you recently make peace with Hiawatha, and has the deal expired yet (10 turns)?

The game has an automatic "peace" detection thingy for when using atomic bombs and nukes - so if you just made peace with the Iroquois and there is a unit of theirs in the fog, then your nuke can't launch there

Wow, that actually solved the problem. So it was not a technical issue at all, you just aren't allowed to drop a nuke two hexes away from a "friendly" unit or territory. How strange it didn't come to my mind before this, thanks a lot!
