I guess its a little late seeing as you opened a game thread already, but in my view Never Ending Story should not have any stats at all and no nations ruled by a specific player. All of us know history quite well so lets just pick a time peroid, prepare a list of nations go. Players could pass stories to each other rather than deal with their nations only. Thus someone can write stories for people on both sides of a battlefiels. This gives a NES more flexibility and doesn't make it rely on stats at all! Thats my idea of a pure NES anyway .
