An Oncoming Train Wreck - Beginners HoI2 AAR

could be Stalin trying to get a climate similar to what he's used to.... since he was kicked out of the USSR

Can we mod in 'Nazi Britain' as a puppet state? I'd love to rule that!

Since a couple of you are wanting their own custom nations I give you these maps:

europe-1.png

Rules:
1)If it is outlined in black, it is off limits.
2)You must provide me with a country name and flag
3)Don't give your country a stupid name like Awesomeland or Poopistan. If you give it a stupid name, I'm not making it.
4)Give your country a realistic looking flag. If it isn't realistic, I'm not making it.
5)Don't make your country too big.
6)South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia/Oceania are completely fair game.

1. Why is Cascadia missing two territories of BC?

2. Also out of curiosity, why is it called Cascadia?

3. Why did have to take the area I wanted?

4. Can you post maps of the other continents? (Don't care about Afrika except for Egypt)

1)Because given Cascadia's theoritical boundaries, giving it the rest of BC just doesn't look that good.
2)How have you not heard of Cascadia?

It is outlined and coloured in ;)

Caught up!

It's been fantastic to see the events happening on the British Isles (in particular the German reinforcements at Aberdeen ;) ). It's remarkably similar to whenever I take Britain as Germany - the Yanks seem more determined to reclaim it rather than liberating France if Britain remains free!

G'luck with America. May little resistance and victory prevail!

With German forces successfully landing on the the North American mainland, German forces immediately went after 3 strategic targets; Boston, Halifax, and Montreal. American forces were forced into a retreat. 7 Canadian divisions took refuge in Cape Breton, and successfully repelled German attacks. The Americans fought back a German attack on Boston, before the city would fall. In Quebec, the cities of Montreal and Quebec City easily fell. A stalemate soon developed along this front, stretching from Boston in the south along the New Hampshire-Vermont border and along the St. Lawrence River, with neither side being able to break through.

In Germany, a number of carrier air groups were constructed, giving Germany's four aircraft carriers their own air wings. They now awaited the arrival of the Kriegsmarine ships who where returning from North America to join up with.

Unable to break through in New England, it was decided that a new front had to be opened. 47 divisions had been assembled in northern Germany awaiting the transport to the front. After making a brief stop in Halifax (hence why there are 55 divisions in Halifax in the first screenshot ;)), they continued along the coast before finally landing at Newark. The war plan had originally planned to land at Dover, but was changed in order to put pressure on New York City.

I have no idea how this happened, so breaking out of story for a paragraph. This event popped up and I took the option to Take Control of Algeria and Tunisia which went under Italian control. For some reason Vichy Morocco was now American, despite the fact that the two of them weren't at war and there were no American soldiers there.

With two fronts now opened (and me successfully figuring out convoys), the American defenses began to crumble like a deck of cards. The Germans broke through in every direction, pushing deep into Ontario, Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland. 16 American divisions were encircled in Watertown, while the both Ottawa and Washington D.C. fell. American forces were now on the run.

With on opposing forces in their way, German Panzers and semi-motorized cavalry broke through into the Ohio Valley. The states of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and Michigan soon fell, while German infantry marched through Virginia.

In the wide open plains of the Midwest, German tanks continued to roll on. They crossed the Mississippi River and into Texas, Oklahoma, and Minnesota. A number of American divisions were pushed into Florida and quickly defeated.

German forces soon reached the Rocky Mountains. They were suprised by the lack of resistance as they rolled through the country. It seemed that most of the American army was up in Canada unsuccessfully trying to slow the German advance.

With victory on the horizon, the Kriegsmarine launched five new battleships. They were sailed across the Atlantic to join up with the two fleets already patrolling the North Atlantic. In addition, four new carriers had already been commissioned and already joined those in the Atlantic.

In Asia, the Japanese continued their advance in Southeast Asia. They soon defeated Dutch forces in Indonesia, and the government surrendered. Japan took control of Indonesia and Curacao, which had been the next stop for the German forces who were currently island-hopping through Allied held islands in the Caribbean.

Back on the mainland, German forces had reached the Pacific coast. Having reached Seattle, 6 Panzer divisions and 7 semi-motorized cavalry divisions attacked Vancouver. The American and Canadian defenders were soon forced to retreat to Vancouver Island. With the fall of the city, the Canadian government surrendered.

I was actually suprised at how easily the Americans were defeated. I was expecting much more resistance. Once I got out of New England, the Americans didn't put up a fight.

Well just keep heading south I presume.

Can we set up a Puppet State in New York State and surrounds?

(I sent some blokes in stolen Lankies over there to bomb it. They never arrived. I wonder why?)

That is so unrealistic. I'd expect realisticaly there would still be millions of US conscripts who would at least try to fight back.

They wouldn't be very good. And probably suffer heavy casaulties. So maybe that does explain a lack of resistence.

Also, VIVA LA VANCOUVER ISLAND!

At least Japan should prove to be somewhat challenging. :D I know they have large quantites of infantry.

Of course, I'll have to begin a massive reinforcement of India first. And in order to do that efficiently, I need to take those British islands in the South Pacific.

It's part of the "Operation Torch" event. Historically the Americans negotiated with Darlan, the Vichy Commander, to facilitate the American landing in North-Africa. The Americans landed in Morocco (that's why the Americans receive Morocco in the event). In exchange The USA didn't declare war on Vichy France. The Germans and Italians were furious about this 'betrayal' and took control over North-Africa (that's why the event gives Algeria and Tunis to the Italians) to oppose the American landing.

You are already conquering the USA in 1943. It's only logical the in-build events seem rather bizarre... (tip: don't play at the very easy level) ;)

I doubt it.

1) you are playing on very easy
2) The Japanese AI always leave the home islands pratically undefended. All the troops are stationed in China, The Phillipines,... Once you take Japan where all the industry is, the rest is mop up.

Now, it's true that it can take a long time to defeat the Japanese in China. It's not very suitable terrain for your Panzers.
