An SG for those who have never played an SG before

Turn 10: 1100 AD
Madrid is starting to build the Sistine Chapel. You can change this if you want. I don’t think we really need it, but it was there and I thought, might as well.

After turn comments:

Madrid is almost ready for the final assault. Defenses are almost down to 0%
I left 4 Macemen fortified in Barcelona. Once the longbowmen come to defend, you might want to send them out for some action.

Met Mansa and Alex. They share the same continent.

Techwise – Caesar is the only one with techs we don’t have. We have techs that Caesar doesn’t have too.

In order to win the game I think we should go for a domination win. Right after we finish with Spain, I say we go after Caesar. There is an island west of us, that would be nice to colonize to help us get more land for domination win.

Aww you posted in between  It's all good. :D

Turn 6- 10 was pretty much building units and moving the units to Madrid and bombarding defenses. Nothing really interesting happened. You can check out the turn log for more details.

Edit: Guild is going to be finished next turn.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see that we are very interested in this game anymore. I believe Gaspar is up.

You might consider this a shameful bump to get back on the first page. :D

If whoever's next after wants to go, they can, because I think it's been more than 48 hours now...

Someone... grab it?

i didnt even realize its been two days.

Rem is up on another SG for a few days now (five i think) so i doubt he'll play this one.

Gaspar's up!!

Preflight check: Where are all the cats? Too many maces not enough cats, and we're not building any cats. Means what could be 2-3 invasion forces can only be one :smoke: No reason not to be in HR and no need for serfdom at the moment, so I'll switch to HR and Caste, it'll help afford the conquest. Do a good bit of MM. We need Courthouses and markets everywhere. I'll do what I can to bring the hammer to Izzy and keep our economy afloat. I suppose I am blessed to live in interesting times(tm).

1105 AD - Guilds in, bringing our UU. I'll try and bring us towards liberalism, so seems like Education is the way to go, unis would help. Veto Sistine in Mecca, its the most useless wonder ever. Start a grocer. Also start one in Beijing after the Mace comes in. Meet fat Vicki. She has no techs we don't have. There shall be peace in our time.

Madrid captured without losses.

madridsiege.jpg

We have more than enough military to completely nuke Spain, we have a Prince level force on noble.

1110 AD - Shuffle units, buy Mansa's map to get a picture of where everyone else is. Anyone not name Caesar/Isabella is going to have to wait for Galleons. I think if we really cranked the war machine, probably could hit Domination by 1500 AD. I'm not going to be the one to make that call though.

1115-1125 AD - General wartime machinations. Bombarding, healing, shuffling.

1130 AD - Santiago falls without incident with a skeleton crew to be honest.

santiagosiege.jpg

1135 AD - Madrid sort of out of resistance, start moving forces eastward to the rest of Spain. Sadly she never built the Buddhist shrine. Its all mop up now. Courthouse completes in Medina, start a market. We're now losing 3 gpt, but at 929 gold, we can run a loss for a while.

1140 AD - Mecca finishes Grocer and income goes back positive. Working an irrigation line towards Medina.

IBT - Mansa demands Civil Service. Yeah... might happen.

1145 AD - Damascus completes Camel Archer, starts Grocer. Izzy lands a laughable 3 HA counter at Barca, thrashed by our maces.

IBT - Caesar demands Feudalism. Yeah... might happen.

1150 AD - Santiago out of resistance, have artists hired which should be put back to work on the land as soon as borders pop.

And thats it.

We're slaughtering the field in Demos with the exception of GNP where we only have a 1 point advantage on JC. Think logistically and threatwise he's the next obvious target, he's clearly second in tech, I could care less about allies at this point, we have this game in the bag, lets just knock em down one by one. Theres about a billion galleys outside Beijing, semi-full with troops. I'd build cats to fill the rest of it and there's your Roman invasion force. Additionally, the cats are one move away from the rest our force (on goto) which is gathered outside Toledo. I'd guess it will fall in 1-2 turns, then bring the hammer south, I'd only leave a token garrison, Izzy is spent and Toledo won't be the target, no reason Spain shouldn't be totally done by the next turnset. Then we can ship the remainder of that force north to make the Roman invasion even swifter. I'd guess we should build the FP in Barca, then get Divine Right and build Versailles in Rome. After that I'd surmine just spewing out settlers in former Spain and Italy would get us to only needing to take out one more of the AIs to reach domination.

I wonder how different a game this might have been had Silver not taken that gamble and eliminated China early with Warriors. Anyway, here's the save, have fun TRacc.

this is my got it post. ill probably have the report tonight. I have a stupid paper due today and its 1:00 in the morning. Time to start procrastinating :D . So yeah expect the report tonight.

Have fun guys. I'm outta town between the 11th and 19th for the spring break. Hopefully you guys have beat some heads by the time I come back. Good luck!

Pre-Turn: I check on everything and it looks like we’re doing pretty good for ourselves.

Turn 1: I press the little red button and proceed to take over Toledo. I also micromanage some units to the front. Three mace man were used to take the city and they were promoted to level three city raider. I move the rest south to take another city. The force headed south is composed of level 2 city raider maces and a level 2 swordsman with three catapults. It’s a small force but Isabella is pretty much defeated now.

Turn 2: I move some galleys and get silver’s city producing longbowmen for garrisoning duty in spain to free up our invasion vanguard.

Turn 3: Units on the move southward and that’s about it.

Turn 4: Units on the way to the south to capture city. Three level 3 city raider maces are sent to capture another city. Actually im kind of taking a gamble here since theyre being sent out without catapult support but im hoping they’re level 3 training will be enough.

Turn 5: Here’s a sneak peak of Cordoba.

A_look_at_Cordoba.JPG

Next turn im taking it BWAHAHA!!!!

Turn 6: Theres too many units in Cordoba so I postpone the invasion for now. I’ll regroup the elite units in the north to take the city and am sending two more mace man as reinforcements.

Turn 7: We’ve taken Cordoba YAY!! I redirect my elite forces to over look Seville which I believe to be the last Spanish city. Three units are already there with one more coming in and three catapults will be making there way shortly. Having some problems with some horse arching pillagers though. It will be dealt with shortly though.

Turn 8: Took care of pesky pillagers. Here’s a look at Seville now. I only have three units on a forested hill but a mace man and catty’s are coming up.

A_look_at_Seville.JPG

Turn 9: I move three mace man on top of catapult stack to add more protection for the catapults. Other then that nothing really happened.

Turn 10: A longbowmen has been built and I send him toward the galley. I got him on goto. I have two galleys in Baghdad and three longbows inside. When the fourth one gets there send them over to former spain to free up some of our units, especially the medics, all longbows have been promoted to city garrison bonus for defensive purposes only. Seville is ready for bombardment next turn im sure you can take the city even though our troops are outnumbered.

Sorry for having only a few screenshots. Overall the war against Isabella is going great. Seville appears to be there last city and we have catapults and four maces overlooking the city now.

Very important though, we need two more catty’s inside those galleys next Beijing and transport them to Rome. Once we attack Rome we must have a steady stream of defenders because if we don’t our invasion forces will be spread too thin and caught up in garrison duties. If that happens our war machines will slowly grind to a halt. The four longbows in Baghdad must get sent to Spain to guard and free up our units on garrison duty. When the longbows get there load up our invasion force and attack Rome. Im all with Gaspar here on going for early domination. We’ve practically won but now I want to see how fast we can get a domination victory :D , it’ll be interesting. Oh after education was discovered I went for engineering for the road movement bonus. I suggest we detour for drama since theatres are pretty cheap to build especially for newly conquered cities. After that we should prioritize military techs for obvious reasons.

Hey all -- I had a few things come up this morning, and didn't get a chance to play. I will be out all day tomorrow (Sunday) until late -- so if eektor wants to trade with me, feel free. I can definitely get turns in Sunday night (or Monday night, if eektor trades)...

Nick

Sorry guys my weekend was very busy. Just noticed it today. You can take it from here ntallyn since I won't be able to play until this evening.

Sorry for the lack of pictures and details (again)...in a rush (again)...

Spain had 2 more cities...but they are both now gone...

There is one longbowman on Goto -- on his way to the last (former) Spanish city without a longbowman.

There are 6 galleys loaded with units just outside the Roman borders -- remember you need to cancel the open borders before landing...And 2 more on the eastern side of the Spanish continent that just loaded up and are ready to head into war again...There's 2 longbows near Beijing ready to be transported to Rome as defenders...and 1 or 2 more on Goto to that same area...

Engineering and Philosophy came in...Liberalism will be done in 7 turns (I think). Gunpowder should probably be next.

Crap -- my pop-up blocker is doing too good of a job...I can't get the "manage attachments" window to come up...
