I had a request, so i will try to make this.

Currently the textures are not final, and only the centerpiece for size 1 has been made (the houses are placeholders).

Ideas for different textures are welcome :)

Good start! Thanks.

The central building looks good but should be lower. Is it standing on some kind of stone base? If you were to remove that base it would be ideal.

For the larger towns, a wider, longer central building along the same lines would be great:

You could try giving the buildings large tiles on the roofs, as in that image. But I quite like the thatched look you have there. If you did both, then they could be different eras, even if there are no other changes.

Great concept art :)

What do you think of this change of the roof colour?

It is not precisely like the tone in your pics, but i would not want to have identical colours with the ancient Skandinavian set.

The stone base, and the round building are not really historical in this set, but i always keep them in all sets.

In the pic you can also see the first modelled Anglo-Saxon house.

That tone looks good. I still like the idea of having different versions with just the textures changed, for different eras!

I have to say that the stone base does look very odd with buildings of this kind. Would it be possible at least to replace it with, say, a sort of turf mound? Only these buildings shouldn't be using stone at all, and they would certainly never have plinths.

I can create an additional larger wooden base around the hall, which would hide most of the stone, and/or increase the already existent base of the building a bit. :)

Glad you like them :)

Any views on this as the size #2?

Also is there any pic of a defensive tower or something like that which i can use for the third special building?

That church looks good, but it has almost no wooden parts so i cannot use it, sadly.

And remember that the tower from the motte was already used in the medieval Skandinavian set, i cannot use it twice ;)

Now some of you might not like this, but i decided to upload a different roof texture. BUT i will also finish the set with the brown-wood one, and post it here (in a pic) so that if someone really needs that he can have it.
Might be for the better since Plotinus mentioned he could use a 2-era set, with only different roof colours.

As for why i changed it to this, the answer is that although the brown-wood looked realistic, it was not in my view in tune with my other sets which are a bit more cartoony in regards to the colours of the roofs.

Anyway, here is the new variant:

Thank you for offering this! :)

Is there any other central building i could model for the third monument?

As things stand i am beginning to heavily dislike this set. If i can find something good to model for the final building i will probably upload the version with the brown roofs. Even if i end up erasing it i will first post it here though.

I think the church would be OK to add to the largest city size, even though it's stone. They did use stone for churches.

Alternatively, you could give the largest city a similar central building to the smaller ones, but make it bigger.

Surely there should be a village green at the centre with a maypole.

Plot - does this mean an update to the Rood is likely?

Ok, here it is:

I decided to take the set down, since currently i cannot think of ways to make it more of my liking. However you are free to use it if you want to.

Plotinus, it would be great if you can lock this thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=10364147#post10364147

I might rework the set in the future, but i don't know when ;)

I think it looks really good.

I'll lock the thread as you request.

But it would really, really help me if you could upload a version of this set but with the same roof texture as in post 1 here, and another one with the same roof texture as in post 11 (as in the version you took down). Nothing else would need to be different. But that way I could get three eras out of them, which would be ideal.
