Angular Momentum

Well, I am easily number 3 to those ai I have so far met, and with more to go.
One of them is spread a considerable distance around the globe.

There are also many barbarian islands around, but mainly covered in ice.
On my original island, there was one other tribe, which I eventually overcame.
I usually don't build that many untis in he beginning, so this need slowed me down to start with.

I just re-read the opening post, and found the game settings, which I had pretty much forgotten.
So - the ai are kicking our collective arses at present.

Good news/ bad news is the two leading ai are nowhere near my island.
So - if they are to be stopped - some of you are going to need to invade them, or at least be the first in line to resist if they move to arms.

I have one ai and one human still to meet.
- duh - actually if 'my' ai did not respawn elsewhere, I guess I have only one human tribe left to meet.

Based on where your ship is on my southern border, you will be meeting Count of the Egyptians soon. That is unless you have run across his Galley which is mapping my lands...

According to whom I have met, I am in third with AI Alexander in first and you in second. But I guess once I reach out into the deep waters I will find that I am much more worse off than I thought.

Woe to the world ! :eekdance:

A mighty fleet of East Indiamen are abroad on the deep oceans.

Potentially, 24 macemen heading your way ? (or, even worse, my way )

You have been warned ! (rather sporting of me, I think :smug:)

Somewhat amusingly, the 6 east Indiamen are 'protected' by about 8 caravels.

Those of you - you know who you are - closing in on rifling had better be quicker about it, just in case.

If you wish me to trail the dutch fleet, and give a more precise warning of exact direction, then my sailors can be hired for a reasonable sum of gold, or gifts of luxury items.

Well, the Dutch are annoyed with me due to my choice of religion. They won't even speak to me about open borders. I may be their target.

Ermmmm,

There appear three possible targets for the Dutch fleet, unfortunately I am one.

Let us hope they are after the French instead.

The tribe that has just switched to gunpowder might actually be safe. :mischief:

Ohh bother. It's probably gonna be me...

I made a mistake. Looks like the Frecnh are not around - three humans are the possible targets.

Well, they don't seem to have unloaded on your territory, as they just could have.

Hmmm.

Now they are in my waters, but under Open Borders and have not landed or declared.

Perhaps they are put off by my recent gifts.

They are not at war with anyone, but when I suggested we attack the French - their worst enemy - they replied they had too much on at the moment ?

Perhaps they intend to sail on to my capital, where there will be sufficient muskets and maces to slow them down.

And, delayed until after I get rifles, frigates are the only efficient way to stop East Indiamen.

Double Hmmmm

Devious twonks.

Last turn I sever ties with France at Kublai's bequest.
This turn Kublai has declared.

Next turn I upgrade a number of my paltry defenders to rifles, and the game will change.

I estimate I might lose 2-3 cities, probably only 1, but will take them back within a few moves.

If the remainder of his fleet unload on my main island, and the composition is the same as what he unloaded on a minor island, then I only need to take out about 4 or 5 main troops ( horse archers or pikemen :) ) and the rest will be siege weapons.

Next stop, frigates.

Kublai requested that I go to war with them against Zoot. Not that I could get troops to his shores, my best naval unit is a Caravel. Either way, I told him that I could not afford a war right now. Needless to say he likes me even less now.

Hmmm again.

Their fleet has 'disappeared', so I assume they are going to pick their next landing spot quite carefully. I have abandoned one city to hope to save another, and am generating cash for upgrades.

Frigates will have to wait.

Forced to burn a GS to trigger a GA.

Also forced to return my peripatetic barbarian bashers towards home.
